Sun Yat-sen: A great pioneer in drawing a grand blueprint for industrialization for China

author:The daily routine of 2202

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 110th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution.

110 years ago, the Xinhai Revolution led by Sun Yat-sen overthrew thousands of years of feudal rule in China, established the Republic of China, led the Chinese into the period of democratic revolution, and began a new era in Chinese history.

The Xinhai Revolution greatly promoted the ideological emancipation of the Chinese nation and promoted china's social change with great shocking force and influence, which is the greatest historical merit he established for the Chinese people and the Chinese nation.

Dr. Sun Yat-sen

Today, in all parts of China, there are buildings or roads built or named in honor of Sun Yat-sen, and people honor him as the "Father of the Nation", and it can be said that his life has been a life of struggle for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The Three People's Principles of "Nationality, Civil Rights, and People's Livelihood" are his lifelong pursuits.

The four words "the world is just" are the highest portrayal of his personality!

As the leader of the Xinhai Revolution and the founder of the Republic of China, Sun Yat-sen has long been known to everyone. His great feats and heroic deeds in the history of the Chinese revolution do not need me to repeat them.

Today, from another perspective, I would like to let everyone re-understand such a great pioneer of China's democratic revolution and understand why he is so great. Where is the greatness?

In 1917, Sun Yat-sen and his wife Soong Ching-ling, who had been frustrated by the revolution, returned to Shanghai and began to write three important works of his life: "Sun Literature", "The Preliminary Civil Rights" and "Industrial Plan".

Sun Yat-sen: A great pioneer in drawing a grand blueprint for industrialization for China

"Prime Minister Sun's Industrial Plan" published in 1930

I would like to focus on the book "Industrial Plan", another name of which is also called "International Common Development Industrial Plan", which is Sun Yat-sen's monograph on revitalizing China's industry and realizing the modernization of the national economy.

Sun Yat-sen: A great pioneer in drawing a grand blueprint for industrialization for China

English Version of "Industrial Plan"

It turned out that during the First World War, China's capitalism had further developed. Sun Yat-sen realized that after the end of the war, the industrial equipment served by the imperialist countries in Europe and the United States would be idle, and many technicians and workers would also face unemployment, which was a great waste of resources.

Sun Yat-sen thought that if China could take advantage of these equipment and talents for industrial construction, it could greatly accelerate the development of China's economy. Therefore, in 1919, he wrote the book "Industrial Plan" in English, calling on the international community to jointly develop Chinese industry.

The book was translated into Chinese by Zhu Zhixin, Liao Zhongkai, Ma Junwu, Lin Yunxuan and others, so what was Sun Yat-sen's industrial plan? What are the specific plans?

There are six main plans in the book:

The first, second and third plans are to advocate the construction of three deep-water ports along the coast of China, namely the Northern Grand Port in Bohai Bay, the Oriental Grand Port in Hangzhou Bay in the East China Sea, and the Great Southern Port located outside the mouth of the Pearl River in the South China Sea;

Qinghai-Tibet Railway

The fourth plan is the railroad plan, which plans to build 100,000 miles of rail to form a railway network across the country, you know? Sun Yat-sen was the first to propose the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Sun Yat-sen mentioned the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway in his railway plan, in fact, as early as 1912, he already had this plan;

The fifth and sixth plans of the industrial plan are the development of basic means of subsistence, the production plan, and the raw material and energy industry plan, respectively.

The whole book reflects Sun Yat-sen's grand ideals and specific plans for the modernization of China's national economy, and is a detailed and bold blueprint for China's industrialization on China's economic development, from theory to practice.

Some friends may have questions, using the industrial equipment and technology of european and American capitalist countries, workers, etc., to help China develop, will they agree? Why would people help us?

Because Sun Yat-sen's plan is to advocate signing contracts with foreign capital groups according to the principle of equality and mutual benefit, giving them reasonable economic benefits, essentially still doing business, as long as there is money to be earned, capital and human resources will flow to China.

At that time, China was poor and backward, lacking the capital, technology and talents needed for large-scale economic construction, so Sun Yat-sen suggested that we should implement an openness. To put it simply, if there is no capital, then we will borrow foreign capital, and if there is no talent, then we will borrow foreign talents, and the method is not good, then we will use the method of foreigners, which is also the original intention of the book "Industrial Plan" he wrote, using foreign capitalism to develop China.

With foreign capital cooperation, some friends may worry about whether it will damage China's sovereignty. Sun Yat-sen particularly emphasized the premise of cooperation with foreign capital, that is, not to infringe on China's sovereignty, and he believed that this was the key to China's survival.

Three Gorges Dam

In addition to the aforementioned Qinghai-Tibet Railway, in fact, the construction of the Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River, another great project of China's world-famous, was first proposed by Sun Yat-sen.

In 1918, Sun Yat-sen put forward the original idea of building the Three Gorges Dam in the article "Founding Strategy", and the speech "Three People's Principles, People's Livelihood Doctrine" made in 1924 also clearly mentioned: If we take such a large amount of electricity to work for us, there will be great production, and China will certainly be able to turn poor into rich. But in the end, because the bourgeois-led democratic revolution could not be victorious in China, the grand blueprint of Sun Yat-sen's industrial plan was lost.

Today, China has basically fulfilled Mr. Zhongshan's last wish to become a beautiful, peaceful and democratic power, especially when the new crown pneumonia epidemic has swept the world, actively helping other countries in the world to fight the epidemic together, donating vaccines and anti-epidemic materials. Actively advocating the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind has made great contributions to the cause of world development and peace.

On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, we can proudly congratulate Mr. Zhongshan;

The old China, which worried him so much, was gone;

The lives of the Chinese people he is always concerned about have undergone earth-shaking changes;

The ideal of China's modernization that haunts his dreams is gradually being realized!

The glorious prospects of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation have been unfolded before us, and let us once again pay tribute to Mr. Zhongshan and all that he has done for the people of the Chinese and the Chinese nation.
