Yan Fu pulled Li Hongzhanglian
Li Hongzhang's handling of foreign affairs ended in failure. Yan Fu, a modern Enlightenment thinker, advocated the restoration and reform of the law, and placed high hopes on Li Hongzhang, believing that Li's great talent had not been fully utilized. After Li Hongzhang's death, Yan Fu wrote a pair of apologies with regret:
Let the time make every effort to do its part, and know that the results will not stop there;
If the late festival is not self-evident, what should the scholarly theory be?

Yang Du bang Huang Xinglian
Huang Xing, a democratic revolutionary, once joined forces with Sun Yat-sen to form an alliance, and the two men were not without differences in political views. When Sun Yat-sen attacked Yuan Shikai, he put aside his personal prejudices and fully supported him. After Huang Xing's death, Yang Du wrote an elegy for it:
Public friendship may wish to be private, usually political views are divided, and the liver and gallbladder are still pushing close friends;
A body can be enemy of ten thousand, but unfortunately the overlord is lifeless, dead and alive from the ancient trapped hero.
This association focused on the big picture, grasped its glorious deeds, and affirmed Huang Xing's deeds.

Yang Du self-helped
On his deathbed, Yang Du wrote a pair of elegies for himself:
The Emperor Dao is true, and now it has become a thing of the past;
The medicine of the people to save the country, followed by their own descendants.
Yang Du plotted Yuan Shikai's claim to emperor and later joined the Communist Party. He wrapped up his tortuous life in twenty-two words, with a spirit of self-criticism and, more importantly, full of hope for the future.

Zuo Zongtang went west to Xinjiang and was accompanied by a "Xiangzhong traveler". This person's surname is Chen, his name is DiNan, the character Dunfu, a native of Xiangyin, Hunan. When he was young, his family was poor and he worked hard to study. After studying in Hunan. Later, Chen Di Nan wrote a letter for Zuo Zongtang to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers of the Anti-Russian War on the Middle Yuan Festival:
