The Celtics want to send Horford away

According to The Athletic reporter Jared Weiss, the Celtics are trying to send veteran Al Horford away and hope to reinvent the frontcourt with another center.

Last June, the Celtics traded Kemba Walker and the No. 16 draft pick for Horford from the Thunder. The Thunder eventually picked the high-profile Turkey big man Alperen Shintin and traded it to the Rockets.

This is the second time Horford has played for the Greens, averaging 10.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 blocks per game in 36 games this season, but struggled outside the three-point line and shot only 28.5 percent from the field.

Horford is on $27 million this season, but only $14.5 million of his $26.5 million annual salary is guaranteed in the 2022-23 season, which could make him more attractive to potential buyers.

In addition, according to Weiss, the Celtics also put swinger Josh Richardson in the deal negotiations. Richardson has played 33 games for the Green Army this season, averaging 10.1 points per game, and he will be a full free agent this summer.
