According to Pakistan's "Dawn" website, on Saturday (January 15), local time, Pakistani police announced that a large number of anti-aircraft machine guns, Stern submachine guns, revolvers and other weapons were found in a British colonial building in the old town of Karachi. The officer directing the operation told the media that the captured weapons were apparently buried in the ground 10 to 12 years ago.

According to Pakistani media, the property of the building belongs to a charitable trust fund that has been leased to a man named Salim, who uses the building as a warehouse to store some utensils (mainly cups) in cardboard boxes. According to senior local police officers, they began to operate after receiving the intelligence, and the police's work of excavating weapons began on Friday night local time and continued until the evening of the next day, when a large number of old, rusty anti-aircraft machine guns and Stern submachine guns were confiscated.

Police said they would contact military experts to analyze and study the weapons and trace their true origin. At present, the police have not been able to determine whether these weapons are related to NATO.

According to Pakistani media reports, local police said the Stern submachine guns were not ordinary weapons and that they were working to determine how they were brought to the building. And the weapons were found near police stations, which is a matter of great concern. Although the police say that at this stage, they are not yet sure who the weapons belong to. However, some Pakistani media said that some police officers suggested that these rusty weapons may belong to the terrorist organization "Balochistan Liberation Army".

Pakistani media said police said no one had been arrested so far. In addition, the police have information on weapons found elsewhere in the same area.

A similar amount of weapons and ammunition allegedly appeared in another warehouse in Karachi in early August 2021. At that time, the Pakistani Ranger unit found a batch of weapons during a raid on a warehouse. During the operation, they found 7 Kalashnikov series guns, 3 7 mm rifles, several 8 mm rifles, 1 .222 rifle, 6 12 caliber streak guns, 10 pistols, 1 revolver and 1684 rounds of ammunition.
