From the night of January 19 to the morning of the 20th, Beijing ushered in the first snowfall weather in 2022, the Municipal Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow warning information for road icing at 7:10 this morning, and the traffic management department launched the snowfall weather traffic diversion plan in time to ensure the normal operation of social traffic.

At 10:00 p.m. on the 19th, there was snowfall in Huairou, Changping, Miyun, Fangshan, Haidian, Fengtai, Chaoyang, Shijingshan and other areas, and after the snowfall began, the Beijing traffic management department promptly launched the work plan for snowy day duty and made every effort to do a good job in snowy traffic emergency support. All traffic branches (brigades) have increased snow traffic support posts on highways, ring roads, expressways, overpass areas, main urban roads, major national and municipal roads, and mountain roads, and simultaneously strengthened road patrol control and video patrol. In particular, for the Beijing-Tibet, Beijing-Cheng, Jingping Expressway, 110 National Highway and other key areas of the road, strengthen road inspection, once there are hidden dangers such as road snow, ice, etc., temporary control measures will be taken according to the appropriate situation, and cooperate with the municipal ice shoveling and snow sweeping department to eliminate hidden dangers in a timely manner.

On the morning of the 20th, the snowfall stopped one after another. However, the Beijing Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow warning message for road icing at 7:10 this morning, and it is expected that the surface temperature will be below 0 °C until 15:00 pm. Due to the low temperature, some roads will be frozen, affecting the safety of road traffic.

Here, the traffic management department reminds the general public that with the drop in temperature, there may be a phenomenon of "ground armor piercing" in some residential roads and under the overpass, and the speed of driving should be controlled, and the driving and cyclists should pay attention to observing the road surface in order to respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
