"Wencheng" tells the story of a northern man named Lin Xiangfu who meets a southern woman named Xiaomei. "Once I saw Yang mistakenly for life", when Lin Xiangfu met Xiaomei, he interpreted a glance at ten thousand years.
One night, a man and a woman came to Lin Xiangfu's house for a short stay, the man was called Ah Qiang, and the woman was called Xiaomei. Ah Qiang said that he was Xiaomei's cousin, Lin Xiangfu warmly entertained them, and it was from then on that Xiaomei lived in Lin Xiangfu's heart.
But the simple Lin Xiangfu did not expect that Ah Qiang, who was known as Xiaomei's cousin, was actually Xiaomei's husband. It turned out that the encounter and love between Xiaomei and Lin Xiangfu was a deliberate arrangement.
When Xiaomei left Lin Xiangfu for the first time, she secretly took Lin Xiangfu's property. According to the time and place agreed with Ah Qiang, they met smoothly, and just when the two decided to take the money and go back to the house, they found that Xiaomei was pregnant and the child was Lin Xiangfu's.
Xiaomei, who has always been shunliang, boldly made a decision this time, she should first return to Lin Xiangfu and give birth to the child. Because, she felt that this was the only compensation she could give Lin Xiangfu.
When Lin Xiangfu had Xiaomei again, and Xiaomei was pregnant with her own child, he did not complain or doubt, firmly believing that this was lost and regained, and loved Xiaomei even more.
"Those who pretend to sleep will never wake up." When Xiaomei gave birth to her daughter, she still left Lin Xiangfu according to the original plan. Although her heart was full of guilt for Lin Xiangfu, she was full of concern for her daughter. She went anyway.
After Xiaomei left, looking for Xiaomei became Lin Xiangfu's obsession in this life. She only knew that Xiaomei was from "Wencheng", where people were wearing wooden shoes.
Lin Xiangfu went all the way south until he arrived at a place where people spoke the same accent as Xiaomei and wore wooden shoes like Xiaomei on their feet, and Lin Xiangfu felt that this was Wencheng.
Dressed in a heavy cotton coat, he held his daughter in his arms and inquired about Xiaomei in the cold wind. Later, he learned that this place was not called Wencheng, but Xizhen. And he would never know that there was no place called Wencheng.
Although this place is called Xizhen, Lin Xiangfu still believes that Xiaomei is from here. He settled here and met Chen Yongliang, who was very affectionate and righteous, and the two were like brothers and sisters, sharing weal and woe.
He also met the righteous Gu Yimin, who later became a warlord melee, bandits flooded, and Xizhen was suddenly in danger, and people were displaced. Gu Yimin was taken captive by bandits and brutally tortured.
In order to "redeem" Gu Yimin, Lin Xiangfu risked his life and broke into the bandit's nest alone. Unfortunately, Lin Xiangfu was brutally killed while playing with bandits.
The story of Xizhen did not end because of Lin Fuxiang's departure. And Xiaomei did not meet again in his lifetime. Xizhen is indeed what Xiaomei calls "Wencheng", and "Wencheng" is just a lie.
Lin Xiangfu's story ends, and the novel explains Xiaomei's past and the rest of her life in the final part. Xiaomei is indeed in Xizhen, and she lives meekly with her concern and guilt for her daughter.
Later, Xiaomei froze to death in a huge worship ceremony. Since then, she has tangled up in a complicated life and completely ended it.
"Wencheng" is different from Yu Hua's previous works, and the previous works are as simple and thick as taking root, directly hitting the heart and making a sound. And "Wencheng" has a touch of ethereal feelings, and the soul is like a dream, penetrating into the soul.
The knife light and blood shadow, the blood stained Xizhen red, he walked through Xiaomei's footprints, but he never found "Wencheng".
