Eternal memory – Walter defends Sarajevo

In 1977, after the Yugoslav film "Walter Defends Sarajevo" was performed nationwide, it became inextricably linked. This is the most translated feature film I've ever seen, and the lines are familiar enough to memorize. The classic clips in the film, the unique melody of the theme music "Immortal", are still fresh in my memory.

Set against the backdrop of World War II, the story tells the story of Germany's mobilization of the A Corps in the Balkans to transfer north and launch the "Laufer Plan" to plunder Sarajevo's abundant fuel resources to supply armored troops. SS Colonel von Dietrich was sent to Sarajevo to carry out the plan. He sent spies to impersonate Walter and booby-trapped numerous resistance members. Walter, the true leader of the guerrillas, with his excellent personal strategy and the heroic battles of many guerrillas, finally let the spies show their original form and successfully foiled the enemy's plot.

The Walter actor in the film, Bata Zhivoinović, personable, intelligent and courageous, is very similar to the image of the guerrilla presented in the domestic films of the same era, he completely played the heroic image of the vivid charm, acted out the fire, and became a generation of male gods in the minds of Chinese at that time.

Shedd, an old guerrilla, under the cover of a watch shop, unswervingly followed Walter, whom he had never met before, and fought silently to defend Sarajevo. As a father, he also showed the tender side of men. The claim of the corpse in the film is the most touching scene, watching his only child lying in a pool of blood, in silence he slowly walked forward, when the citizens of Sarajevo fearlessly walked towards the corpses of their relatives at gunpoint, this is the most resonant and touching shot in the movie. In the scene where Shedd says goodbye to his apprentice and rushes to the church to die and executes the false liaison, the gunshots startle the white doves flying around, Walter takes turns to shoot at the Germans in the bell tower, Suri and the partisans cooperate in the battle, and the clanging knocks of the coppersmith street to cover the retreat of the guerrillas... All left a new feeling for the audience.

Walter, Gies, and Suri seized the German trucks that were going to the oil depot to transport the wounded, and successfully entered the train station to control the locomotive. When the train finished loading the oil and drove out of the oil depot, Germany found that the train was in the hands of the guerrillas, intercepting the train along the way without success, and the roof robbery was repelled by the guerrillas. As the train climbs, Walter removes the train's ventilation duct, and the train without locomotive traction quickly slides backwards into the military train to divert fuel, blowing up the train carrying the fuel, and the "Laufer Project" is in vain This is the most exciting scene of the fierce battle in the film.

What is even more valuable about this film is that it praises good qualities while not deliberately scandalizing and distorting the image of the enemy. SS Colonel von Dietrich, fake Walter Condell, female traitor Milner and other villains, if not German officers and Gestapo identities, you can hardly see them as villains, even villains, but also a unique attraction.

Eternal memory – Walter defends Sarajevo

The classic line in the film: "Walter is a ghost, I doubt he exists" "Look! The city, he's Walter! "The air is trembling, as if the sky is burning" "Yes, the storm is coming" "Balis, send them to the Liberated Areas, you can sing and go, the Germans have given orders, no one dares to stop you" "You do a good job, you have to learn the craft well, you can use it for the rest of your life, don't waste your life"... No matter who comes from the enemy or the enemy, it is the essence of the lines in the film and it is difficult to forget.

Eternal memory – Walter defends Sarajevo

This film celebrates the people who love their homeland, let the world understand the tragic journey of the Yugoslav people in the war-torn battlefield of "World War II" South-Eastern Europe, with their blood and lives for freedom, dignity and independence, and won Yugoslavia a world reputation. If the value of a film can only stay above art, it is far from being a classic. The value of "Walter Defends Sarajevo" transcends art, crosses national borders, and becomes an eternal classic in people's minds.

Eternal memory – Walter defends Sarajevo

After more than 40 years, this classic film that has influenced generations has still not faded from the vision of Chinese audiences. Walter Defends Sarajevo is not only one of the films I admire the most, but the theme music, Immortal, is also a piece I play a lot. Whenever I play this majestic and spiritually shocking classic piece, the most wonderful pictures in the film pass through my eyes one after another, and this evocative emotional impact has become my eternal memory.
