There is a humorous story, a student told the teacher: my family loves animals, my mother loves birds, my eldest brother loves dogs, my second brother loves horses, and my sister loves goldfish. The teacher asked: What does your father love? The student said, "He loves the fox spirit next door."

The woman next door was accused of being a fox spirit, and after reading this humor, I not only couldn't humor it, but I was also a little indignant. Since then, I have been looking for books and checking the ins and outs of fox spirits.

The fox spirit, originally a genie in mainland mythology and legend, is also called a fox fairy. Legend has it that the fox wants to cultivate his human form and cultivate many magical powers, and whoever violates it will suffer from it. There are many written records, such as the fox catching pheasant in Huainanzi, the fox laughing idiot in the Old Miscellaneous Wall Metaphor, the fox fake tiger Wei in the Warring States Policy, the fox and grape in the foreign "Aesop's Fables", the fox and the logger, the fox and the mask in Racine's pen, etc., all from different angles, capitalizing the cunning of the fox.

More recently, according to the "Dynasty and Wild Jinzai", "since the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, the people have been troubled by fox gods, house sacrifices are begging for grace, and appetite is the same as people", and threatened "not to be charming, not to become talented". In the qing dynasty official palace, it was often enshrined to keep the seal immortals, and the fox immortals were used to prevent the theft of the seal. Bai Juyi's poem "Ancient Tsukasa Fox" says: "The ancient Tsukasa fox, demon and old, transformed into a lady of good color", "suddenly a smile of thousands of states, ten people eight or nine fans", "not to mention the color of praise is good at seduction, can lose people's homes and overthrow the country". The fox essence mentioned by the poet Bai Juyi is much worse than the fox essence that Dayu married when he ruled the water, the Miao descendant of the Tushan clan, the fox essence transformed by the ancient adulteress Ah Zi in the "Famous Mountain Record", and the fox essence that transformed people in the "Book of Searching for God". In "Dream of the Red Chamber", Li Concubine scolded and attacked: "I only want to make up a fox and coax Baoyu", which is the same as the humor at the beginning of this article. However, "Chatting with Zhiyi" is different. Pu Songling's fox essence, one is more beautiful than the other, one is more kind than the other, and one is more radiant than the other. For example, helping poor people marry the crushing red jade, Feng Sanniang, who helps his girlfriend break through the shackles to form a good relationship, Jiaona, Xin Fourteen Niang, Ah Xiu, Xiao Mei and so on. In particular, the innocent and lively and straightforward fox girl Baby Ning, Xiao Cui and other images praised the fox spirit in a high voice. Pu Weng poured out great enthusiasm for these foxes and beautiful women, and could not help but shout directly in the text: "My baby is ning". Pu Songling repeatedly failed to succeed before his death, and only at the age of seventy-one did he come to the aid of the case, and was despised by the contemporaries Ji Xiaolan and other powerful people, and the "Liaozhai Zhiyi" published after Pu Weng's death was far less vast than the "Four Libraries of the Whole Book". But in the annals of history, Pu Weng shines in space. What people admire is his uniqueness in rebelling against the fox spirit culture.
