author:Global Times International

According to the US news website NextShark reported on the 18th, last weekend, Zhongshan Park in Vancouver's Chinatown, Canada, became the target of large-scale graffiti destruction. At the same time, the entrance to the garden is littered and open defecated.

The supposedly first Chinese-style garden built outside of China was probably damaged saturday night, according to Canada's Daily Hive network. However, this is not the first time that the beloved park has been destroyed. According to Canada's Global News, in December 2020, someone wrote graffiti on the wall of the garden.

Lorraine Lowe, the park's director, wrote: "Our heritage buildings and pillars of the Chinatown community are under attack again. Thankfully it's an enclosed courtyard, as I can't imagine what would be lost if it opened again. ”

Luo revealed that the chaos and harassment around the forest park is increasing, and some people often urinate at the entrance of the park.

Lowe told CNBC News (CTV): "When our crew arrived at 9am, they smelled weird smells and urine – it's just, I don't know if it's targeted, but I'm starting to feel like it's a repeating event. ”

Also located in the same neighborhood as Zhongshan Park is a Chinese cultural center that was destroyed by racism in April 2020. Suspect Yves Castonguay was sentenced to 79 days in prison.

Vancouver City Councilor Sarah Kirby-Yung tweeted condemning the incident, calling it "deliberate sabotage." "The scale of this act of destruction and graffiti is terrible, and it is a heavy blow as the Asian community struggles to recover from a range of challenges such as COVID-19 and anti-Asian hatred," she wrote. ”

Yang also urged the public to "keep reporting similar incidents to the Vancouver police." The latest graffiti in the garden was reported on Sunday morning and was cleaned up early in the afternoon.
