The Zitong Expressway starts from Zizhong County, Neijiang City, connects with the Xiamen Rong Expressway (Laochengyu), passes through Ma'an Town, Longjiang Town, Zhouli Town, Anyue County, and ends in Shiyang Town (sichuan-Chongqing junction), and connects with the Tongliang under construction to the Chongqing section of the Anyue Expressway. The total length of the project route is about 104 km, the whole line is two-way six lanes, and the design speed is 120 km / h.

"The bridge-tunnel ratio of this high-speed highway is not high, only 30.46%, but there are many cross-crossing lines." Chen Yangbo said. Chen Yangbo introduced that the Zitong Expressway has been approved in August 2021, and the preliminary design documents are expected to be approved in March 2022, and construction will begin as soon as the fourth quarter of this year.
