Mr. Yiru Leto has been a friend of mine for many years. Among my friends, he is a good person, because he has a sensitive and studious nature, not ashamed to ask questions, which provides a possibility for the continuous accumulation of his artistic literacy and the exploration of artistic potential. He graduated from college and stayed in school to work, and after taking up administrative work, he overcame the cumbersomeness of public service, still obsessed with the art of calligraphy and seal engraving, and devoted all his limited spare time to the study and creation of calligraphy and seal engraving, and he made more efforts than other calligraphers. In view of this, his artistic experience has become increasingly rich: participating in exhibitions, winning awards, publishing collections of works...

"Art is endless", just when he continues to obtain results, Mr. Yiru Letu still does not forget to modestly participate in various calligraphy and seal engraving training classes and advanced training classes, and ask teachers and colleagues for advice. Now all his achievements, in my opinion, are nothing more than the rewards of heavenly rewards. Because the reason is simple, there is not much difference in human talent.

Looking at Mr. Yiru Letu's artistic achievements, there are about three parts: calligraphy, seal engraving, and engraving art.

He excelled in Mongolian calligraphy. If the art of Chinese calligraphy is a hundred gardens, then Mongolian calligraphy is a miracle in a hundred gardens! The art of Mongolian calligraphy is an indispensable and important part of the history of Chinese calligraphy and a treasure of Chinese national culture!

While praising the unique charm of Mongolian calligraphy, we should see that due to the characteristics of Mongolian characters with pinyin characters, the central axis of the script is very strict when writing, which is like a thunder pool, which has become a huge obstacle for calligraphers to create a sense of font space. In contrast, Chinese characters are square characters composed of dots and strokes, and calligraphers are comfortable and calm in dealing with the sense of space of Chinese calligraphy works.

Although I don't know Mongolian script, I can really feel the useful exploration of his sense of line and space by looking at Mr. Letu's Mongolian calligraphy works. His works or structures are sparse, and the arrogance can swallow mountains and rivers; or they are in good spirits and nature, looking like the clouds and flowing water on the grassland; or the pen is vigorous, and the wind and thunder on the paper are full of thunder; or the national spirit of the rather clumsy and clumsy, the humble does not lose the grandeur of the atmosphere; or the movement is so quiet that the prosperous weather is seen between the waves.

Although Mongolian calligraphy is still in the stage of continuous development and improvement, "but the opening of the atmosphere is not a teacher", the road is full of blue wisps, thorns are full of clothes, and we should praise Mr. Yiru Letu's exploratory work!

Mr. Yi Ru Letu's Chinese calligraphy is based on Han Li and has been in the pond for decades. He devoted himself to the study of the "Ceremonial Instrument Stele", "Cao Quan Stele", "Yi Ying Stele" and other normative Lishu, and later carved stones for ten minutes of love for the simple and varied Lishu such as "Zhang Qianbei" and "Shimen Song", and absorbed more ingredients from the Jian Mu Shu Shu and the Qin Zhao Edition, thus forming the tone of the Lishu that combined Han Li with Jian Shu and Qin Seal. His works take the vigor of "Zhang Qianbei", the bone strength of "Ceremonial Instrument Monument", and the beauty of "Cao Quanbei", and integrate Han Jian's simplicity and frankness into it, combining the law of the monument with the meaning of Jian Mu, which not only expresses the quiet and quiet of the monument and the movement of Jane, but also obtains the golden stone qi of the stele and the pen and ink interest of Jian Mu, giving people a strong artistic appeal.

Mr. Yiru Letu also has great achievements in seal engraving. Seal engraving has become a sister art with calligraphy because it was born from oracle bone and gold script, but at the same time, we should see that all art has its own laws and has the characteristics of tactile bypass.

Mr. Yiru Letu studied Mongolian seal carving for many years, and turned to Chinese seal carving and achieved gratifying results, which can be said to be a natural and logical thing. His seal engraving has crossed the barriers of writing, broken through the limitations of writing materials, shaped the understanding of calligraphy art into gold and stone, and integrated the art of painting into square inches (Ruoxiao-shaped seal and portrait print), which are the extension, transformation and expansion of art forms. If there is no root in the sudden "turn", how can it be more than enough? Also because he has the skill of painting, he is familiar with portrait printing, and he can do it with his hands and have both gods and forms.

Appreciation of works

Finally, let's talk about the art of lettering. Engraving is to express the realm of calligraphy art with the help of calligraphy, seal engraving, painting and carving, which is also the creative field that Mr. Yiru Letu has devoted his efforts to in recent years. He is one of the few outstanding engraving artists in the country, and his works are becoming increasingly eye-catching.

A few years ago, I saw some of his engraving works at the 10th National Engraving Art Exhibition and other exhibitions, and I was very impressed. I believe that good works should not only be aesthetic, but also elegant, visually impactful, and ideological.

Mr. Yi Ru Letu's masterpiece of engraving art, "Nine Curves of the Yellow River," handles the relationship between these people relatively well. Wu Guanzhong once said: "Painting skills cannot be equated with art", this principle is generalized, and engraving cannot be simply equated with art, only by implying that engraving has a deep meaning can it be described as art.

Tang Zhang Huaiyun: "The wind god is the one who is in the upper position, and the person who uses the beauty function is lower." "Because the creation of the art of engraving integrates traditional techniques such as calligraphy, painting, sculpture, and seal engraving, the cultural literacy requirements for the author are also higher." Only by paying attention to long-term artistic accomplishment can we take care of both aspects, comprehensively apply them, and achieve achievements.

Mr. Yiru Leto's talent is more balanced, fully qualified and capable of creating more masterpieces, just full of expectations!

Liu Xizai of the Qing Dynasty wrote in the "Outline of Art" Yun: "A bookworm, such as also, such as his learning, such as his talent, such as his zhi." In short, it is just like his person." Youyun: "Scholars have two views, that is, to see things, and to look at me." Look at things with similar feelings, and look at me with tongde." In other words, those who are engaged in art must solve the problem of entering the "Tao" from "technology".

Danqing is lonely and lonely, and calligraphy and painting are a lifelong achievement. The two views of things and self are actually the realm of art, jinliang, and engaged in art creators should adopt a cautious attitude of "everything starts with a single step". May this be encouraged by fellow travellers! (Text | Zhang Ji, Vice Chairman of China Calligraphers Association)
