One afternoon during my summer vacation, I sat quietly in front of the windowsill and watched "Grandpa is a Cherry Tree" with fascination. It is a novel by the Italian writer Angela Nanedi. The early autumn breeze gently blew through the branches outside the window, into my room, and also blew the cherry tree on the page, which was Grandpa Phyllis, and I was attracted to this tree, and I was also deeply attracted by the protagonist Tonino.
The story is narrated in the first person by the little boy Tonino, who is naïve, naughty, but understanding, Andino especially likes his grandparents who live in the countryside, especially the grandfather who is different, and teaches him to feel the world with his ears and listen to the sounds of nature: the breathing of the cherry tree, the chirping of the mother feeding the baby, the hum of the bees sucking up the nectar... But Grandpa died suddenly, quietly drifting away like a cherry tree leaf, and little Tonino seemed to have suddenly grown up and took the initiative to take the responsibility of defending the cherry tree, and when the government wanted to build roads to cut down the cherry tree, Tony used his courage and wisdom to save the cherry tree.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is what Grandpa said to Nonino: "When you close your eyes and listen intently, you hear more things than you see when you open your eyes." Now listen to the cherry tree's breathing. "Grandpa was a very peculiar old man, maverick, stubborn but very cute: for a fish, he could take off his clothes and pants in the winter and jump into the cold river, and as a result he had a cold for a month; jumping from this trunk to that trunk on the cherry tree, the pedestrians on the road thought he had a neurosis and called an ambulance... Whenever I think of these interesting plots, I can't help but laugh out loud.
Grandpa was very dedicated to the cherry tree "Phyllis", and on a cold winter night, the neighbors were all warming by the fire at home, and Grandpa was afraid that Phyllis's new shoots were frozen, so he lit some fire next to the cherry tree, but the next morning, he almost froze into a "popsicle"; when he lived in Tonino's house, Grandpa dreamed that Phyllis had been cut down at night, and he stubbornly wanted to go back, saying: "I will never stay here again, unless you insist on tying me up." ”
These acts of Grandpa made me very moved, and many people may think, isn't it just a tree? But Grandpa did not think so, the cherry tree was planted by his own hands, this tree grew up with Tonino's mother, and accompanied Tonino and his sister, Grandpa put his life's efforts into the cherry tree, which is no longer an ordinary cherry tree, but the sustenance of Grandpa's spirit, but also symbolizes the continuation and greatness of life. I thought: Grandpa is dead, but he must still be paying attention to the cherry tree, maybe Tonino will see a yellow oriole bird singing on the cherry tree one day, it is Grandpa chatting with the cherry tree.
My favorite person in the book is Still Tonino, who is not only good at observing and thinking, but also brave. When I read "I heard a scream, but I have climbed the bottom branch" and "my hands are all scarred and bloodstained", I couldn't help but be surprised: a 7-year-old boy, in order to save a cherry tree, can not be afraid of pain, regardless of his own safety, to know that under the tree is a large shovel of an excavator, as long as he moves slightly, he may be in danger of life. You can imagine how much courage Tonino had shown at that time, because he knew that he was defending not only a tree, but defending life, defending dignity, defending the spirit of his grandfather!
This makes me think that when we face setbacks and difficulties, we must also have enough courage to overcome it. This summer, I followed the Jinan football team in Weifang Luneng Football School closed training for 27 days, the entire holiday is almost spent on the training ground, every day high-intensity training, fast-paced competition and day after day exposure, simple and boring collective life makes me feel physically and mentally exhausted, fortunately with the company of books, let me successfully complete all the training tasks, although it has been so dark that even my parents almost did not recognize me, but I gained a double improvement in skills and spirit, it is really worth the trip!
"Grandpa is a Cherry Tree" I read three times, but still love it, it let me see a different world, but also let me understand that "no one can accompany our life, some people, some things are worth our life to protect." 」 ”
