Evan Rachel Wood delivered a nonverbal message to her predecessor.
On Saturday night, Wood, 33, said on stage in Los Angeles' Bourbon Hall: "I've been saving it, but it seems like a suitable time." She then began singing the neo-radical "You Get What You Give" and raised her middle finger as she sang Marilyn Manson's name.
She posted the video to Instagram, writing: "For my fellow survivors who were slapped this week. I love you. Don't give up. ”
Wood, a three-time Golden Globe nominee and a half of music duo Evan+Zane, accused Manson of sexual assault and other abuses. Manson denied the allegations, calling them "a terrible distortion of reality."
Her performance comes after Kanye West invited Manson to appear with him at a concert in Chicago on Thursday to spark controversy on stage in support of his new album Donda, which was released on Sunday. Manson is listed as a co-author of two of Tandah's tracks.
Wood shared an article about Manson's appearance with her Instagram story, which reads "Trigger, Re-trauma and Insecurity."
Wood made her allegations public in February.
Wood wrote on Instagram at the time: "My abuser's name is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson." "He started grooming me when I was a teenager and treated me horribly over the years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I have lived in fear of retaliation, slander or blackmail. ”
Prior to her February announcement, Wood had referred to the abuse of the "other half" in 2016 and testified before the House Judiciary Committee in 2018 on behalf of the Sexual Assault Survivors' Bill of Rights Act.
At least 14 other women have made similar allegations against Manson, 52, who has denied them.
