On the evening of January 15, the overseas Chinese community in Southern California held a Spring Festival Gala for the Year of the Tiger to welcome the arrival of the Year of the Tiger and wish the Beijing Winter Olympics a complete success. Zhang Ping, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Los Angeles, Zhao Meixin, a member of the Federal Representative, and Lang Pingping, former head coach of the Chinese women's volleyball team, were invited to attend the party and congratulated the New Year with more than 1,000 spectators.
In the evening, the Spring Festival Gala of the Year of the Tiger held by the Overseas Chinese Community in South Canada, "Welcoming the New Year and Celebrating the Winter Olympics", kicked off at the San Gabriel Theater, with 16 programs in various forms and wonderful. Nearly 70 associations participated in this evening, which is the crystallization of the unity and cooperation of the overseas Chinese community in South Canada, and is also one of the biggest activities for overseas Chinese cooperation and grand event in recent years.
The Spring Festival Gala in the Year of the Tiger was jointly organized by the Southern California Federation of Chinese Associations, the Southern California Federation of Chinese Overseas Chinese, the Southern California Chinese Association, the Southern California Chinese Federation, the World Federation of Vietnamese- Cambodian Laos, and the Los Angeles Chinese Overseas Chinese Association, in addition to many associations co-organized the party. Zhang Ping said that China has strengthened epidemic prevention and control, accelerated economic recovery, vigorously built a new development pattern, and promoted high-quality development. In the first three quarters of last year, the GDP increased by 9.8% year-on-year, the total import and export volume of goods trade exceeded 6 trillion US dollars in the whole year, and the economic development maintained a global leading position, making an important contribution to the global economic growth under the impact of the epidemic.
In his speech, Zhang Ping fully affirmed the performance of the Chinese and overseas Chinese in Southern Canada in the face of economic problems such as repeated epidemics and supply chain obstructions, as well as anti-Asian racial hatred.
Famous volleyball player Lang Ping and former Chinese sports players and coaches Li Xiaoyan, Li Hua, Ni Chen, Gao Sheng, Li Deliang, Shen Fumin, Li Mingzhu, Wang Hongbin, Tian Xiaojun and other former chinese players and coaches were also invited to appear on the stage. In her speech that evening, Lang Ping said that she was very happy to be able to wish the Beijing Winter Olympics and celebrate the Lunar New Year with friends from overseas Chinese circles; she thanked the overseas Chinese for their concern for Chinese sports and the Beijing Winter Olympics, and she wished the Beijing Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympic Games a complete success. Artist Zhang Yan presented the Li brocade artwork with 99 "Fu" characters woven at the party site to the party.
