Have you received a "Points Zero" SMS? Beware of year-end points clearing traps

author:Bright Net

Near the Spring Festival, many platform merchants began to send various activity TEXT messages, among which merchants launched points clearance activities, urging them to redeem the points accumulated by various consumption on weekdays as soon as possible, and scammers also targeted "opportunities" to fool people. Many media reported points redemption scams, and many citizens reported being cheated of money after operating according to SMS reminders.

According to the Guangdong public security, when receiving similar text messages, we must pay attention to the following three points:

1 When you receive a text message for point redemption, even if it is a text message from a customer service number that you are familiar with, you can't easily believe it. If you don't look closely, most people may mistakenly think that it was sent by 10086 (as shown below), but a closer look at the "l0086" here will find that it is a lowercase L instead of a 1. Scammers take advantage of the low recognition of the English letter "l" and the number "1" to confuse the field of vision and opportunistically.

2 Where there is a URL link in the SMS, we must pay attention to identification, do not click at will, it may be a Trojan virus or a phishing website.

3 Scammers will also impersonate staff, call the phone to promote points redemption gift activities, ask for verification codes, passwords, or lie about winning the lottery, points feedback activities, ask for various types of verification information, and defraud money. Handle the points redemption business, try not to jump the link directly, you can call the official customer service telephone or log on to the official website to consult, or open the mobile App downloaded through the official channels to operate.
