Near the Spring Festival, many platform merchants began to send a kind of activity SMS, among which the merchant launched a points clearance activity, urging them to redeem the points accumulated by various consumption on weekdays as soon as possible, reminding them that if they are not exchanged in time, some may expire and be invalidated. However, at this time, the scammers also set their sights on the "opportunity" to fool people.
Recently, the reporter received such a "points clearance" text message.

Subsequently, copy the above link to the browser search, appeared in the mall called "redemption gift", the mall shows that "my redemption points" has 7350 points, it is worth noting that the reporter has not purchased any goods on the website before.
On the page, basically all the goods have been crossed out of the original expensive price, leaving a price that is several times cheaper than the original, the exchange heat is basically more than 1w+, and the goods can be exchanged for points, but a certain amount needs to be paid. According to the mall page, some well-known brand products can also be "redeemed".
Points redemption scams are high
There have been multiple hits
The reporter learned that many netizens also said that they had received similar "points clearance" text messages, and Shenzhen public security also sent a reminder to be vigilant against similar text messages.
Previously, a number of media had reported points exchange scams, and many citizens reacted to being defrauded of money after operating according to SMS reminders.
According to the Zhengzhou Evening News, Ms. Li, a citizen of Nanjing, received a text message that her mobile points were about to expire, please log in to the handheld mobile business hall in time to exchange for cash and other gifts, and there was also an exchange website attached to the back. Ms. Li casually clicked on the URL link in the TEXT message and entered the bank card number, name, mobile phone number, bank account and bank password as prompted, but the points were not successfully redeemed, and Ms. Li quickly closed the webpage. Soon after, I received a text message, and the deposit of more than 2,000 yuan on the bank card was transferred. According to the police, the web page linked in such a short message is not the official website of the regular customer service, but the Trojan horse link made by fraudsters.
According to Guangdong public security news, Mr. Yang, a citizen of Jiangmen, once received a points redemption text message sent by a telecommunications operator, which read: "Dear customer: Hello! Your call points 3160 are about to expire, please log in to your mobile phone eb-10086.com/bank activate the cash package. Mr. Yang saw that the text message was sent by the operator where his mobile phone number was located, and the URL in the text message was similar to the real URL, and Mr. Yang did not have too much doubt, so he used his mobile phone to open the URL. Also entering is a page titled "Pocket Business Hall". After requesting to fill in the relevant personal information, you enter a page titled "National UnionPay Credit Card Withdrawal Special", and after continuing to fill in the information, you are asked to download the security controls (in fact, the Trojan horse program). When the information was submitted, the page entered a state of waiting, and soon Mr. Yang received a number of consumption text messages prompting him that his credit card had been spent 7739 yuan.
Guangdong public security also announced a case: Mr. Zhang of Zhuhai wanted to exchange points for an air fryer, but the result was more than 20,000 yuan. In previous years, Mr. Zhang also exchanged a lot of phone bills, daily necessities, video members, etc. through points, this time he saw the text message and did not have too much doubt to open the URL with his mobile phone to fill in personal information, and also downloaded a "security software" (actually Trojan software), and finally waited for not the air fryer, but the credit card was consumed 22839 yuan SMS.
Guangdong public security reminder: In fact, these scams are scammers through the base station, disguised as telecom operators to send text messages to induce victims to fill in personal information and download Trojan software, and finally steal the victim's credit card.
How to prevent it?
Three points to note when receiving a similar text message
According to the Guangdong public security, when receiving similar text messages, we must pay attention to the following three points.
The first point: the SMS that receives the point redemption, even if it is a text message from a customer service number that you are familiar with, you can't easily believe it.
If you don't look closely, most people may mistakenly think that this is really sent by 10086, but a closer look at the "l0086" here will find that it is a lowercase L instead of a 1. Scammers take advantage of the low recognition of the English letter "l" and the number "1" to confuse the field of vision and opportunistically.
The second point: where there is a URL link in the SMS, we must pay attention to identification, do not click at will, it may be a Trojan virus or a phishing website. When you encounter the need to enter your real name, bank card and password and other privacy information, you must pay more attention.
Whether it is a bank or a telecom operator or a merchant to send an activity SMS, it usually only requires the user to fill in the account number or mobile phone number, and will not require the user to fill in very sensitive information such as bank card password and ID card number, let alone require the user to fill in the credit card expiration date, security code and other information.
The crook texts through the fake base station: http://waip-10086m.com/. There is also an m letter on the URL, which is 10086m, which is obviously a phishing site, do not operate as required, otherwise the loss will be heavy!
The third point: scammers will also impersonate staff, call the phone to promote points redemption gift activities, ask for verification codes and passwords, or lie about winning the lottery, points feedback activities, ask for various types of verification information, and defraud money. Handle the points redemption business, try not to jump the link directly, you can call the official customer service telephone or log on to the official website to consult, or open the mobile App downloaded through the official channels to operate.
In short, if you receive similar text messages, you should pay more attention, do not click at will, avoid being deceived, if you find that you have been deceived, please call the 110 alarm in time.
