Death is the big ending for everyone, and on the days you're leaving, I want you to remember the good times we once had together.
Erica and her divorced mother live alone in a peaceful town, and her mother drinks and smokes heavily, and does not give his mother the warmth and patience to teach him, and scolds him. Growing up in such a family environment, Erica became the kind of person who was seen as unsociable in the eyes of others.
Erica's next door moved in with new neighbors, but the townspeople hid from the family like a plague, and Erica's mother even asked someone to build a fence between the two families and warned Erica not to play with the children next door. On the other side of the fence is a young boy named Dekkers, who, like Erica, lives with his single mother. Unfortunately, Dix was injected with HIV-containing blood during a medical malpractice, which is why people in the town avoided them.
Erica and Dirks are neighbors, and although the two families do not have any contact, Erica is ostracized at school. Erica was playing in the yard, Dex was playing in his yard, and two people with lonely souls chatted across the fence. Dekkers tells Erica that his illness is not contagious, and Erica, out of curiosity, climbs over the fence. Erica saw the diminutive Dekkers, who was 11 years old and didn't have the height and body type that his peers should have because of his illness.
Because Erica's mother was not at home, the two little boys played games together without restraint and went to buy favorite snacks together. On the way home, they are ridiculed and humiliated by Erica's classmates, and Erica fights back without fear. When Erica threw a small stone like a classmate, she accidentally hit one of her classmates in the head. Erica pushed the dekker in the shopping cart and turned and ran, and the shopping cart sped forward on the downhill road, nervous and exciting.
When it was time for them to go home, he made an appointment to play together tomorrow. Back home, Erica was reminded by her mother to keep her distance from the child next door. Erica didn't take her mother's warning seriously. Early the next morning, he showed up on the doorstep of Dix's house. They stayed together all day, and Erica even had dinner at Dex's house. Erica loves to eat the after-dinner desserts of the Dex family, and Dex has a lot of dessert left, and Erica wants to help Dex eat his desserts. Dex's mother refused, and although she knew that spit would not be contagious, she was careful not to have any accidents. Erica proposes to wait until Dex's illness is cured and they go to sundae ice cream together, and no one notices the loneliness on Mom's face at this time.
Erica once saw a movie called Witch Doctor, where the flowers and leaves of plants can be used to treat cancer. Erica has a bold plan to cure Dex of his illness. He buys a lot of candy for Dix, which he believes will give Dirks energy. Buying candy costs all the change in the Dirks family, and when it is discovered, Dirks is locked up.
Erica comes to Dex again, and the mother does not want her son to lose the only friend he has made so hard, and lifts Dex's confinement. They started the witch medicine method in the movie, they began to look for leaves in the forest that resembled the herbs in the movie, and when they came home, they boiled it into soup and let Dex take it. The soup medicine is difficult to drink, but Dex will still actively cooperate with Erica's treatment. Like a doctor, Erica carefully recorded Dex's reaction after drinking each decoction.
Erica would follow Dekkers to the supermarket with them, and Dex's mother would even kiss Erica's hair like her own child, making him feel the warmth of a mother, and they were like a family. At dinner, Dekkers was physically exhausted, and his mother carried him into the bedroom, and Erica left. After leaving, he remembered that the notebook that recorded Dex's condition had forgotten to take it, and when he went back to get the notebook, he saw a person wiping her tears from Dex's mother.
The next day, Erica and Dex saw an exciting news in the newspaper that doctors had extracted a substance from plants that could treat AIDS. They excitedly begged Dex's mother to take Dirks there for treatment, but Dirks's mother refused, saying that if the real hospital had been notified. Erica could only continue to take Dekkers on their witchcraft, but this time something went wrong.
At night, Dekkers's mother anxiously came to Erica's house and asked him what he had eaten for Dexa, and Erica quickly took out her notebook. Two good friends set off in Eric's kayak, which glides along the current, and they frolick on the kayak. But they slid too slowly, and they spent all their money to catch a boat on the way. At night, they were driven off the boat to sleep on the beach, and Eric was awakened by Dex's moans of pain. Dekkers was in pain, and his clothes and quilt were soaked with sweat. Erica lovingly exchanged clothes with Dex. Then the two chatted, and Dex said he felt like he had left this world and couldn't come back. With two people on her back, Erica crossed the forest and finally came to the road. They hitched a ride on the road and reached the coach station, and just as they were about to buy tickets, the owner of the boat chased them to the bus station and spotted them. Erica ran hard in front with Dekkers, and the owner of the ship chased after her. They drilled through an iron gate, thinking it was safe, but they did not expect the owner of the ship to flip directly through the barbed wire. They had already reached the end, and Erica tried to get Dekkers to climb over the iron gate first, but it was already there. Erica hid Dekkers behind her and tried to fight with the ship's owner. The owner of the ship pulls out his dagger, and Dex suddenly grabs Erica's knife and tells him that he has AIDS, and then he cuts his wrist. The owner of the ship had just accidentally scratched himself while climbing over the barbed wire, and because he was afraid of contracting AIDS, he turned around and fled.
After the owner leaves, Dekker is physically weak, erica wants to help bazaar wound, but Dex refuses, he is afraid that Erica will touch his own blood, he does not want his good friend to be hurt. When they returned to the station, Dex was very ill, and Erica called Dex's mother and took Dex home. Mother Dex came to the station to pick them up and take them home.
Dex's condition deteriorated and he was admitted to the hospital, where Erica visited him and brought him candy. Dex showed Erica his paintings, his visions for every stage of his life, and he said he wanted to live until he was 80 years old and become a grandfather on crutches. In the days that followed, Erica would come to the hospital to accompany Dex whenever she had time, and Dex grew weaker and weaker. One day, Erica proposes to tease the next person like last time, and Dex smiles and nods. Erica cries and goes to trick the doctor into the ward, waiting at the window to see the funny picture of the doctor being startled. But Dex did not scream and sat up, and Dex left quietly forever.
