Deng Shijun: A fighting hero of the sons and soldiers of the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region

Deng Shijun is a famous combat hero of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. Also known as Deng Shijun, born in 1916, a native of Cangxi, Sichuan. In May 1932, he joined the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. He joined the Communist Party of China in February 1935. He has successively served as squad leader, platoon leader, company commander, regiment leader and other positions. After experiencing the 25,000-mile Long March, he participated in more than 100 battles such as Lazikou, Mountain Castle, Pingxingguan, and Baobei. Combat tact and courage, heroic and tenacious, 12 times wounded, 9 times meritorious service, won the "combat hero", "production model", "work model" and other titles.

In August 1940, when he was the commander of the 1st Company of the 5th Regiment of the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region Of the Eighth Route Army, in the battle to capture the Niangziguan Mohetan Station in Shanxi Province, he took advantage of the rainy night to lead the whole company to launch an attack on the Japanese army that was several times more dangerous than itself, and rushed to the Mohetan Station in one fell swoop. Reinforcements, combined with ironclad vehicles and artillery, launched a powerful offensive against the 1st Company. At that time, when the flash flood broke out, the river was rising sharply, and we were in a dangerous situation where the enemy was outnumbered and the enemy was outnumbered on three sides and faced with water. He was not afraid of danger, endured wounds, insisted on commanding the whole company to fight fiercely with the enemy for 5 hours, repelled more than 10 attacks of the Japanese army, killed and wounded more than 200 enemy people, and waded through the water to break through the siege. After the war, the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region awarded him the title of "Special Combat Hero", and his company was awarded the title of "Hero Company of MoheTan". In September 1943, during the anti-"sweeping" battle in Beiyuegou, more than 2,000 Japanese troops launched a surprise attack on the 5th Regiment, which had just moved to Beiyuegou. The 1st Company was ordered to cover the transfer of the main force of the regiment, and he commanded the whole company to seize the commanding heights first, continuously repelled the Japanese army's 7 charge under the cover of aircraft and artillery, held the position for a day and night, killed and wounded more than 70 Japanese troops, and successfully completed the task of safely transferring the main force of the cover regiment. In the same year, in the anti-"sweeping" battle of Ganshigou, he led a fierce battle with 1500 Japanese troops, killed more than 30 enemy troops, and broke through the Japanese encirclement. In February 1944, he attended the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region Combat Heroes Combat Model Conference, was awarded the title of "Fighting Hero of the Children of the Jin-Cha-Ji Border Region", and was awarded the First Class Combat Hero Medal.

In January 1951, he joined the Chinese Volunteer Army and served as its regimental commander. In May, in the Fifth Campaign of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he was ordered to lead his troops to penetrate deep into the enemy's positions and repel multiple counterattacks by 4 battalions of the enemy at Fengwei Mountain on the south bank of the Hongchuan River, annihilating more than 200 enemy troops. After completing the mission, he was ordered to move, and died heroically while forcibly passing through the artillery blockade at the age of 35.
