Qingzhou Museum brings together the essence of 7,000 years of ancient Qingzhou culture, with a collection of more than 50,000 cultural relics and more than 1,000 national precious cultural relics, including more than 140 national first-class cultural relics.
Longxing Temple was built in the Northern Wei Dynasty, destroyed in the early Ming Dynasty, and coexisted for more than 800 years, and was one of the famous temples in the country at that time.
In 1996, when the bulldozer was working in the school playground, it inadvertently pushed open the Buddhist statue cellar of the Longxing Temple site that had been silent for a thousand years, with an area of only more than 50 square meters and a depth of 3.45 meters, and unearthed more than 600 Buddhist statues of stone, pottery, iron and other types from the Northern Wei To the Northern Song Dynasty for nearly 500 years.
In 1996, more than 400 Buddhist statues were excavated from the site of Longxing Temple, spanning 500 years from the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Northern Song Dynasty. Due to the large number, full variety, exquisite carving, bright and in-good gold paintings, and long spanning time, these statues have aroused great concern from all walks of life, and have been rated as "the top ten new archaeological discoveries in the country in 1996" and "100 archaeological discoveries in China in the 20th century", and are known as "miracles in the history of Buddhist archaeology since the founding of the People's Republic of China" and "major discoveries in rewriting the history of oriental art and the history of world art", which provides strong evidence for the study of the history and art of Buddhism in the northern dynasties of the mainland. The Buddhist statues of Longxing Temple have been exhibited more than 50 times in museums at home and abroad, and the number of exhibits is more than 1,300, which has aroused great concern in the society.
