Synopsis
After the death and burial of Professor Sun Xun, Professor Song Lihua and other colleagues who worked at Shanghai Normal University began to plan the publication of a commemorative collection of essays for The Teacher, and many of the same disciples participated in it and worked together to publish this series of books on the first anniversary of the death of the teacher. The Anthology is prefaced by Professor Huang Lin of Fudan University, which reviews and summarizes the academic research of the teacher.
"Sun Xun's Academic Anthology" consists of five volumes, including "Preliminary Investigation of the Dream of the Red Chamber", "Cultural Spirit of the Dream of the Red Chamber", "Exploration of Classical Chinese Novels", "Treatises on Ming and Qing Novels", and "Collection of East Asian Chinese Novels". The number of five books is not large and heavy, but it is the academic essence of Professor Sun Xun's life, the most authentic narrative of Professor Sun Xun's academic research experience, representing the academic level of the teacher, representing the academic vision of the teacher, and representing the academic achievements of the teacher.
The five books are not many, but they are constantly improving, which also reflects the teacher's consistent academic pursuit and attitude towards life. It is believed that the academic collection of the teacher will also have a greater impact on future academic research.
"A Preliminary Study on the Fat Review of the Dream of the Red Chamber"
"Preliminary Investigation" was issued by Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House as early as November 1981, which caused a very great response in the academic circles and was highly praised by Mr. Feng Qiyong and Zhou Ruchang in the "Red Studies" circle. The book is Professor Sun Xun's first academic work, but also a famous work, but also a work to fill in the blanks, this time included in the collection and ranked first, well-deserved.
The writing of the book benefited from Professor Sun Xun's participation in the annotation group of the Ministry of Culture's "Dream of the Red Chamber" in March 1975, in which Professor Sun Xun was the youngest expert, and Professor Sun Xun saw and collected a lot of lipid books and related literature in the work, coupled with the influence of the scholars in the group, laying a solid foundation for subsequent research.
The book has a total of five parts, divided into "Introduction", "Lipid Book, Lipid Review and Reviewer Overview", "Lipid Evaluation Value Exploration", "Lipid Evaluation Scum Criticism", "Lipid Evaluation Historical Status Examination Theory", a comprehensive and systematic study of lipid evaluation, in the study Professor Sun Xun made a perfect combination of mathematical statistics and texts and other literature, not limited to the previous sages have been determined, many academic views in the book are Professor Sun Xun's "independent research experience", as Professor Huang Lin said, "I said that Sun Xun brother has a milestone significance in the history of lipid evaluation research." ”

"The Cultural Spirit of Dream of the Red Chamber"
"The Cultural Spirit of the Dream of the Red Chamber" is a collection of papers selected by Professor Sun Xun reading "Dream of the Red Chamber" and studying the Dream of the Red Chamber, which is a systematic presentation of Professor Sun Xun's research concept of "Dream of the Red Chamber", a comprehensive display of Professor Sun Xun's "Red Studies" argument, and another masterpiece of Professor Sun Xun in addition to the "fat review" research. The papers included were published from 1979 to 2016, and some papers in "Exploration of the Dream of the Red Chamber" issued by Taiwan's Daan Publishing House in 1991 were also included.
Professor Sun Xun began publishing articles related to Dream of the Red Chamber as early as the 1970s, and Professor Pan Jianguo mentioned that Professor Sun Xun's "On Xue Baochao" (October 30, 1974) published in Liberation Daily and "The World of The Broad People are Not Peaceful: The Political, Economic and Ideological Crisis of Daguanyuan" (January 11, 1975) "Perhaps it was these two red science articles that introduced him to the annotation group." ”
Professor Sun Xun's research on "Dream of the Red Chamber" began early, can be described as one of the representative figures of the academic research of "Dream of the Red Chamber" in the new era, with fruitful results, held the third national academic seminar on the dream of the Red Chamber, edited the "Appreciation Dictionary of the Dream of the Red Chamber", and was later elected as the vice president of the Chinese Dream of the Red Chamber Society and the president of the Shanghai Dream of the Red Chamber Society, and the academic research of "The Dream of the Red Chamber" has become the basis for Professor Sun Xun's academic research on ancient novels, which can be said to be the "background" (Professor Pan Jianguo)."
From "A Preliminary Study on the Fat Of the Dream of the Red Chamber" to "The Cultural Spirit of the Dream of the Red Chamber", it is the presentation of the progress of the academic research of Professor Sun Xun's "Dream of the Red Chamber". After "Preliminary Investigation of Lipid Review", Professor Sun Xun continued to study lipid review on the one hand, and then his interest shifted, and the perspective of academic research was also constantly advancing, and the research changed from concrete to abstract, from micro to macro.
In the continuous academic research of "Dream of the Red Chamber", Professor Sun Xun gradually focused on the cultural spirit of "Dream of the Red Chamber" - the core is "love". In recent years, Professor Sun Xun's articles recalling Li Xifan, Feng Qiyong, Liu Danzhai, and Xu Gongshi are even more affectionate, especially the last article ""Red Studies" Reminiscence of Xu Lao", Professor Sun Xun was ill and hospitalized, and he wrote with an oxygen mask. This is the contemporary interpretation of "love" in "Dream of the Red Chamber".
An Inquiry into Classical Chinese Novels
"Exploration of Classical Chinese Novels" is another academic summary of Professor Sun Xun's research in addition to "Dream of the Red Chamber", which is a selection of the papers published by Professor Sun Xun before his death, and the papers included in the collection are published in high-level academic journals such as "Chinese Social Sciences", "Literary Review", "Literary Heritage", and "Academic Monthly".
The book is divided into four parts: "Problems and Methods", which contains six papers, which discuss the problems and methods of academic research on ancient Chinese novels; "Exploration of the Artistry of Classical Chinese Novels", which includes thirteen papers, both macroscopic and microscopic analysis of ancient Chinese novels; "Chinese Classical Novels and Urban Exploration", which includes six papers, in-depth study of the relationship between ancient Chinese novels and urban culture, and the mechanism of this part is pioneering and innovative; "Attached Dong Xixiang and Wang Xixiang", original income" The Basic Knowledge of Chinese Classical Literature Series", published by Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House in 1983, conducted a correlation study of "Dong XiXiang" and "Wang Xixiang", pointing out that "the contribution of "Dong Xixiang" is mainly in the creation ... , and the contribution of "Wang Xixiang" is to further develop, so that it is more mature and perfect on the basis of "Dong Xixiang", thus becoming a exemplary work in mainland classical drama".
Professor Sun Xun's views in "Inquiry into Classical Chinese Novels" still have great academic significance for the current study of ancient novels. Professor Sun Xun in the "Expected Breakthrough: Problems and Thoughts on the Study of Ancient Novels in the New Period" pointed out that there are four "not many" and "not much" in the study of ancient novels in the new period, this article was published in 2008, thirteen years have passed, and then look at the current ancient novel research, there are some innovations and breakthroughs in the part, but overall there are still four many and not much. Academic research generation has talents, ancient novel researchers born after the 1980s have gradually become the main force of academic research, pay attention to "many" and "not much", for personal academic growth will have a fundamental help, the overall promotion of ancient novel research can not be underestimated.
"Fiction and Non-Fiction: A New Perspective of Classical Chinese Fiction", which was professor Sun Xun's speech at the international symposium on "Thirty Years of Review and Prospect of Chinese Classical Novel Research" sponsored by Kanagawa University in Japan in 2016, and was later published in the 2017 Hebei Academic Journal, which pointed out that the academic achievements of ancient novel research since 1980 are mainly reflected in "novel philology", "novel and religion", "novel and city", "novel criticism", "novel and image", "novel and publishing". The overall study of foreign Chinese novels" and "the study of the western transmission of classical Chinese novels" and so on.
In his speech at the Japan Academic Conference Conference, Professor Liao Kebin of Peking University had the nicknames of "Sun Jiajun" and "Huang Jiajun", and Sun Jiajun and Huang Jiajun were Professor Sun Xun and Professor Huang Lin who trained a group of outstanding novel researchers and formed a team size. Of the eight academic summaries made by Professor Sun Xun, either Professor Sun Xun personally participated in them, or Professor Sun Xun's disciples and students participated in them, such as Professor Pan Jianguo, Professor Song Lihua, Professor Ge Yonghai, Professor Song Lijuan, Professor Wan Qingchuan, etc. The proposal of these eight research directions has certain reference significance for the later study of ancient novels and other academic studies of other genres.

The Treatise on Novels of the Ming and Qing Dynasties was published by the Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House in September 1986, and this reprint has been revised. In the revision, some papers in the "Treatise" were integrated and replaced, as follows:

In this revision, the "Ming and Qing Novel Manuscripts" highlights that Professor Sun Xun also has a more in-depth academic study of "Jin Ping Mei", and the study of "Jin Ping Mei" is an extremely important part of Professor Sun Xun's early research on ancient novels, which is a part that is often overlooked.
This is indeed a place that we have overlooked, and even Professor Sun Xun's students and disciples are afraid of forgetting. Mr. Sun Xun also edited the "Appreciation Dictionary of Jin Ping Mei", the first edition was issued by the Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House, and later by the Hanyu Da Dictionary Publishing House, which caused a very big response in the academic circles, as Professor Huang Lin said, "When the wave of 'Jinxue' research in the new era began to rise, Brother Sun Xun was an excellent tidemaker...".
Treatise on East Asian Chinese Novels
"East Asian Chinese Novel Collection", a collection of research results on foreign Chinese novels by Professor Sun Xun, contains a total of 13 papers, most of which focus on Korean Chinese novels, three of which are published in Literary Review and Literary Heritage, and its academic value is beyond words.
Professor Sun Xun paid attention to East Asian Chinese novels, which first began with the collation of the Japanese Chinese novel "Tan Hai", published with the name of "Oriental Liaozhai", published by Hunan Literature and Art Publishing House in July 1990, when he thought that "this is a literary note novel written in Chinese characters", which was actually a preparatory work for the later collation and research of foreign Chinese novels, which was the beginning of Professor Sun Xun's research, including the writing of "Outline of Japanese Chinese Novels" in 2001, which made a systematic study of "Tan Hai". Different from the time of collation, Professor Sun Xun proposed the concept of "foreign Chinese novels" at this time. From the collation of "Tan Hai" to the systematic research, it can be seen that Professor Sun Xun's understanding of the concept of foreign Chinese novels has deepened, and the degree of research on the connotation and extension of foreign Chinese novel texts has gradually deepened.
At the beginning of this century, Professor Sun Xun and Professor Chen Qinghao began to cooperate and implement more research, from the declaration of projects related to foreign Chinese novels to the training of master's students, doctoral students, and cooperative postdoctoral fellows, many of which are related to the study of foreign Chinese novels, which has cultivated a strong team for the study of foreign Chinese novels.
Since 2010, Professor Sun Xun has deepened his research on foreign Chinese novels, especially Korean Chinese novels, and explored the influence of Chinese culture and East Asian Confucianism on Korean Chinese novels, especially the influence of Korean "Hualang Dao" on Korean Chinese novels.
Professor Sun Xun's research on foreign Chinese novels is not limited to the exploration and influence of the cultural origins of novel texts, but also pays attention to the current significance of Korean Confucianism. In "Research on Korean Chinese Novels under the Threshold of East Asian Confucianism", Professor Sun Xun clearly pointed out that "China and Korea belong to the Chinese character cultural circle and the Confucian cultural circle, and in the process of its civilization development, Korean Confucianism, as a part of the characteristics and vitality of East Asian Confucianism, has made historical contributions not only to the development of Confucianism itself, but also to the progress of East Asian civilization, among which, a large number of Chinese novels written by ancient Korean scholars and writers faithfully carry and vividly interpret the historical development and rich connotations of Korean Confucianism. It provides a living text for understanding and understanding East Asian Confucianism.
