Founded in July 1977, Shandong Art Museum is a public welfare cultural institution in Shandong Province, shouldering the important functions of collecting modern and contemporary fine art, conducting academic research, holding exhibitions, carrying out aesthetic education, and organizing foreign exchanges.
Construction of the new Shandong Art Museum began on January 11, 2012 and was officially opened to the public on October 12, 2013. The new building is located in the east section of Jingshi Road (No. 11777, Jingshi Road), the main trunk road in Downtown Jinan, covering an area of 31.05 acres, with a total construction area of 52,000 square meters and a total of 5 floors. There are 12 exhibition halls, with a total area of 19,700 square meters, and the actual available exhibition line is 1,763 meters. The main body of the new building is a clever fusion of the "city" represented by the cube and the "mountain" represented by the cube variant, and the skylight design on the top floor of the building symbolizes the "spring", which integrates the characteristics of the "spring city" Jinan.

1. Painting For a Hundred Years - Exhibition of Works on revolutionary history in the collection of Shandong Art Museum
In order to solemnly celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Cpc, Shandong Art Museum planned and hosted this "Painting Narrative Centenary - Exhibition of Works on Revolutionary History in the Collection of Shandong Art Museum". The exhibition is divided into four sections: "The Founding of the Communist Party of China and Its Devotion to the Torrent of the Great Revolution", "The Mainstay of the National War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression", "Winning the National Victory of the New Democratic Revolution", and "The Founding of New China and Socialist Construction".

Zhang Yanqing (1917-2007), originally known as Huan, was a Chinese poet. A native of Linqing City, Shandong Province, he graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Furen University in Beiping in 1943. In 1946, he graduated from the Department of Art of Chongqing Central University, majoring in Chinese painting, and successively studied under Zang Kejia, Chen Shaomei, Pu Xuezhai, Wang Shensheng, Chen Yuandu, Qi Gong, Xu Beihong, Huang Junbi, Fu Baoshi, and Xie Zhiliu.
