On the eighteenth day of the leap month, the accompanying empress Nalashi suddenly cut her own hair to advise Qianlong to take care of the royal face and not to mess with the beauties in Jiangnan. But Queen Nala did not expect that this haircut incident,
Leave her in a place of doom.
The next day, Qianlong sent someone to escort Empress Nala back to Beijing, and ordered the confiscation of the treasures that the Nala clan had been enthroned, including a copy of the empress, a share of the imperial concubine, a share of the concubine, and a share of the concubine, which meant that the Nala clan not only lost its former honor, but was even inferior to an ordinary concubine.
After returning to Beijing, Narashi was beaten into the Cold Palace, with only two maids by his side. After this change, Nalashi soon fell ill, and just as she was dying, Qianlong still had no compassion and went to the Rehe Summer Resort.
In July of the thirty-first year of Qianlong, the Nala clan ended with hatred, and Qianlong, who was far away in Rehe, did not feel the slightest sense of grief and ordered the son of the Nala clan to return to Beijing to handle the funeral. The edict clearly stipulates that the Nala clan can only be buried in the specifications of the imperial concubine, and in fact, in the process of execution, the funeral is greatly reduced.
Then, we can find two problems from this: First, since Qianlong sent the Nala clan into the Cold Palace, why did not abolish her empress title? Second, why is Qianlong so thin at this moment that he does not think of the love of husband and wife at all?
Let's start with the first question
The Nala clan was sent back to the capital in February of the 30th year of Qianlong, and died in July of the following year, which took more than a year. During this period, Qianlong could have decreed the abolition of the title of empress of the Nala clan. Obviously, Qianlong did not want to, but did not dare.
After the Nala clan hair-cutting incident, the imperial historians in the capital kept writing letters to complain about the empress. For example, Ayong'a, a servant of the Punishment Department, tried his best to obstruct it, and Qianlong had to take into account the pressure of public opinion, and although he had long had the intention of abolishing the future, he did not act for a long time.
After the death of the Nala clan, because it was still the name of the empress, the funeral specifications were based on the example of imperial concubines. This in turn caused dissatisfaction among the imperial historians. Although they did not explicitly point the spearhead at Qianlong, they expressed their dissatisfaction with the Qianlong Emperor on the grounds that it was not in line with the system for the Ministry of Internal Affairs to undertake the funeral of the empress.
The imperial historians were not at peace with the Nala clan, and there was no blame for their courtesy and modesty, not to mention the duty of the imperial history, and it was impossible to turn a blind eye in this matter. Qianlong, on the other hand, was furious and took stern measures against these officials, either being assigned to the frontier or dismissed from their posts and investigated.
Despite the high-pressure measures taken by Qianlong, public opinion still sided with the Nala clan, and Qianlong's several orders to dispel rumors were to no avail. Until more than a decade later, there are still people who stand up and speak for Narashi. A student stopped Qianlong on his way to inspect Shengjing and asked Qianlong to openly admit his mistake and issue an edict, and as a result, qianlong was sentenced to capital punishment. At this point, the various controversies caused by the Nala haircut incident were gradually quelled.
Let's talk about the basis of Qianlong's relationship with the Nala clan
The Nala clan was the second empress of the Qianlong Emperor, the first of whom was the Fucha clan. The relationship between the Qianlong Emperor and the Fucha clan was extraordinary, and there was both affection and love between the husband and wife. However, in the thirteenth year of Qianlong, Fu Chashi died of illness.
The death of his wife Fu Chashi brought a great blow to Qianlong, and in the decades that followed, Qianlong could not forget it in his heart. Five months after the death of the Fucha clan, the Nala clan, who was then a noble concubine, was designated as empress by the empress dowager. It was only at that time that Qianlong was still immersed in grief, and it was not until more than two years later that he officially crowned the Nala clan as empress.
From the heart, Qianlong did not want the Nala clan to enter the middle palace, but at the urging of the empress dowager, the filial Qianlong also had to obey the empress dowager's wishes and set up the Nala clan as his successor.
Since the death of Fu cha, Qianlong would think of Fu Cha every time he died, and wrote many poems remembering Fu Cha. Although the Nala clan was not as noble as the Fucha clan, it was also a lady of the Manchurian noble family, with a dignified personality and easy-going personality, and indeed the best empress candidate.
The days of Qianlong and nala's chenghuan were not long, and it was only five or six years before and after. Since the beginning of the twentieth century of Qianlong, Qianlong has rarely visited the Kunning Palace, and he has focused more energy on the selection of women, and since then, those young and beautiful women have been continuously sent to the palace and have been pampered and canonized. At this time, Qianlong had already thrown the Nala clan out of the Cloud of Nine Heavens.
When Qianlong was thirty years old, it was the year when Nala's hair was cut off, and Nala's was already a middle-aged woman, at the age of 47. This age is a woman's menopause, and her temperament is uncertain and prone to tantrums. The hair loss occurred precisely when Naras was unfavored and menopause was emotionally unstable.
How serious is the queen's haircut? This is not a trivial matter, because according to old Manchurian custom, women can only cut their hair when their husbands or parents die, and they cannot cut their hair on weekdays.
At that time, Qianlong and the empress dowager were still there, and the Nala clan's move was undoubtedly cursing them, so from this point of view, his sin was not small. But then again, after all, Qianlong and Nalashi are husband and wife, if the feelings are very deep on weekdays, the temper that Nalashi often has in women can also be justified, and it seems more reasonable to punish her slightly.
In the final analysis, qianlong and the Nala clan have no emotional basis, and the reason why they were created empress is because of the ancestral family law and the will of the empress dowager. This can also be seen from the later Empress Qianlong Buli.
We all say that Qianlong is a lustful emperor, in fact, it is not, Qianlong is also a single-minded emperor, his love for the Fucha clan is particularly rare, don't look at his harem concubines, but in fact, in his heart can only fit a Fucha clan. And the Nala clan is a victim of Qianlong's feelings and marriage.
