Athletic: Marseille will appeal the penalty verdict in the Guyer transfer case

According to The Athletic, Marseille will appeal against FIFA's transfer penalty against Guyer.

Marseille has informed Guyer of their willingness to appeal the penalty. It is reported that Marseille completed the signing with Guyer in July 2020, but FIFA believed that there was a violation of the operation, and Marseille was sentenced to not make any transfer transactions within two transfer windows, as well as the need to pay Watford 2.5 million euros in compensation. Guyer said he had some differences with his previous agent and had problems with his contract with Watford.

Although these two penalties have not yet been officially confirmed by FIFA, Guyer has now been banned from participating. In the previous Africa Cup of Nations match between Senegal and Guinea, Guye withdrew from the match in the last minute.

A FIFA spokesperson said: "At present, FIFA can confirm that according to the relevant framework contract, Guye will be temporarily banned from all competitions until the problem is completely resolved. A source in Marseille said it would appeal all sanctions.
