Zhu Yuanzhang observed Xu Da for two years, and felt that he was more intelligent than others by moving and quieting, and every word was silent, so he made him the head of the generals. And Xu Da did not disappoint Zhu Yuanzhang, and made great achievements for the Ming Dynasty's Jiangshan in the conquest.
Xu Da's wife Xie Shi was also introduced by Zhu Yuanzhang. In the winter of Beiping, the climate was cold, and Empress Ma was distressed by her friend Xie, so she sent someone to call Xie back to Nanjing for the winter. One day, Empress Ma and Xie Shi were chatting idly in the palace, and when they visited the palace, they inadvertently said to Empress Ma: "Your house is really big and really good." After a while, this sentence reached Zhu Yuanzhang's ears. Envy my big house? Isn't this an attempt to usurp my country and live in a big house by myself? Zhu Yuanzhang immediately ordered the internal servants to block the palace gate and beat Xie Shi to death.
This is not the end, after Zhu Yuanzhang killed Xie Shi, he immediately sent someone to Xu Da in Beiping to pass on the message, to the effect that: Your wife does not observe the courtesy of the people, looks at my house, wants to rebel, I helped you to kill, you Xie En! Xu Da was shocked to hear the bad news, and his heart was very sad, and he could see that the eunuch in front of him was waiting for him to thank him with his eyes, so he had to suppress his tears and prostrate his head to thank the emperor for his grace.
Zhu Yuanzhang can be said to have great trust and closeness to Xu Da, why is he so ruthless to Xie? What's more, this Xie Shi was personally introduced to Xu Da. According to the "North Window Trivia", Zhu Yuanzhang was suspicious by nature, and although he trusted Xu Da very much, in the depths of his heart, he still had a little scruples about Xu Da, who had a heavy army.
