Five years of sheriff's reports show that the world's largest theme park had at least 20 gun cases in 2020, compared to just four in 2016, according to local media outlets orlando Sentinel. However, the problem appears to have worsened this year, with at least 14 people arrested for concealing guns in the first four months of the year alone.

A few days after Disneyland reopened, a Georgia mother was arrested while touring the Epcot Center at Disneyland while touring with her family, including her 7-month-old daughter, carrying two bulleted pistols and diaper bags containing marijuana.

The Orlando Sentinel said the vast majority of those accused would end up with fines of several hundred dollars, and case records show that these gunmen have rarely been jailed since 2016.

Last October, a 43-year-old man was carrying an AR-15 rifle, a 9mm pistol and a consignment of ammunition while staying at the Polynesian Village Resort on Disneyland. He told authorities he wanted to protect his family from the "Black Lives Matter" protests. Eventually, he was allowed to store his weapons in a safe and stay at the resort.

Another 52-year-old Georgia man was also allowed to stay in the park after law enforcement officers removed his gun, which he said was a gift from his brother who was a police officer.

The newspaper noted that many of those stopped told law enforcement officers that they had forgotten they were still carrying weapons or were unaware that they were barred from carrying weapons into the resort.

Experts believe that this increase in numbers partly reflects the general rush to get weapons due to concerns about outbreaks, riots, political unrest and mass shootings.

Joel Devoskin, who works on the American Psychological Association's Reducing Gun Violence Working Group, said: "One reason people carry weapons is, of course, they are afraid. Another reason is that they are angry. ”
