With the rapid development of computer technology, computer animation has become a unique talent in the field of animation, of which DreamWorks' Shrek series is a successful model in the industry.

Led by choreographers Eric Daniel and Tom McGrath, the film's computer animation team not only used state-of-the-art technology to create vivid and gorgeous images, but also gave the film a unique nostalgic element, thus paying tribute to legendary animation elders such as Chuck Jones and Turks Avery.

The film's story was originally inspired by a simple question: What would happen if zoo animals who had been living in a civilized world were placed in the primeval forest?

Daniel, who directed DreamWorks' first computer-animated film, "The Legend of Ant Brother," was originally planning to make a penguin movie, in which Tom McGrath and Merrell Soria were also involved, but the film about the four penguins was stranded due to musical problems that could not be solved.

Soon after, the three came up with a new idea for Madagascar, in which four penguins turned into very different lions, zebras, giraffes and hippos, and the story structure was simple: the story of their wild survival on the island of Madagascar after leaving the metropolitan zoo.
