In 1932, the 18-year-old Tu Tongjin officially became a member of our Red Army, and in the subsequent agrarian war, Tu Tongjin was engaged in nursing, and later entered the Red Army Health School in jiangxi Soviet district of jiangxi province for study, after graduation Tu Tongjin officially became a doctor and worked in the Red Ninth Army.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Tu Tongjin was sent to the Soviet Union for medical training, and tu Tongjin studied neurosurgery at that time, and indeed the learning process was very hard, but Tu Tongjin knew that his mission was very arduous, so he had to urge himself to learn this neurosurgical technique, and the result was that Tu Tongjin successfully obtained an associate doctorate in Soviet medicine in 1955.
After returning to China, Tu Tongjin was naturally very important, and successively served as vice president and president of the Four Medical Universities, vice minister of health of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army, and president of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences.
In addition, he also founded the All-Army Neurosurgery Training Center at xi'an Fourth Military Medical University to cultivate more neurosurgical talents for our new China. In his later years, General Tu Tongjin also translated 10 monographs such as "Neurosurgery in the Soviet Union" and "Emergency Neurosurgery".
