Everyone knows that in fact, the story of "deliberation", Jia Dao's repeated deliberation of the words in his poems is not an accidental practice, but a consistent style. Nicknamed "Shi Nu", he disdained to interact with ordinary people all his life, and he liked to write poems and chant bitterly, and worked hard in refining words. Once, in order to bid farewell to a monk with the title of "Invincible", he spent three years finalizing a song "Sending the Invincible":
"
Send no one
Don Jay Island
Gui Feng Ji is new and sends this caotang person.
The tail is the same as the temple, and the singing is temporarily separated from the relatives.
Walk alone in the shadow of the pond, counting the trees.
Eventually there will be smoke and the roof as a close neighbor.
The last link means that although he has bid farewell to his good friend today, he does not have to be too sad, because the two have already agreed to come to Tiantai Mountain to return to The Hidden Neighbor. However, considering the helpless reason for Jia Dao's being a monk and his urgent mood to seek shi, these two sentences may be a bit insincere.
Why is it said that this poem was written for three years to complete? Evidence of this is that he wrote another small poem as a commentary under the two sentences of "Walking alone at the bottom of the pond, counting the edges of the tree":
Two sentences for three years,
A pair of tears flowed.
If you don't appreciate it,
Return to the old mountain autumn.
It takes three years to write a farewell poem, and the broccoli is cold, which is really incredible. What is even more difficult to understand is that for his own painstaking works, Jia Dao even reached the point of super narcissism.
Every year on Chinese New Year's Eve night, when others are burning incense to worship their ancestors, he will take out the poems he has written in the past year, place them on the table in a dignified manner, and recite the words in his mouth: "This is my painstaking work in the past year!" Then, according to the standard procedure of lighting candles, burning incense, and drinking wine, respectfully make offerings.
After Jia Dao became an official, he once returned to the Qinglong Temple, where he used to be a false monk, to play a day trip of reminiscences, ran to the high bell tower of the temple, took out the scroll of recent poems he carried with him, and put it on the table to recite aloud, and the more he read, the more smug he became. The so-called "loud and distant", at this time, it happened that someone downstairs passed by, and was attracted by his reading poems, so he went upstairs and picked up the poetry scrolls from the table to see. Jia Dao glanced at it, immediately glared angrily, and said, "Looking at the appearance of your rich son with a fat head and big ears, do you still understand poetry?" The cleaver snatched back his precious poetry scroll. The man was stunned, did not say much, turned around and went downstairs.
After the people left, Jia Dao always felt as if something was not right, thought about it for half a day, and finally reacted, just now the person seemed to be a little familiar, as if it was... It seems to be... It seems to be the holy one today!
This saint was naturally Tang Xuanzong Li Chen. You said that the emperor usually has a dragon robe and a crown high above, and a petty official like Jia Dao occasionally kneels on the ground at a distance, I am afraid that he cannot see His Majesty's face at all. Now he has nothing to do suddenly do some micro-service private visit, where can Jia Dao recognize it for a while? It's not harmful!
After a few days, there was indeed a holy will to relegate Jia Dao, which had always been fearful, to the main book of the Yangtze River, so later Jia Island was called "Jia Yangtze River". This story is from the "Biography of Tang Caizi", but in fact, Jia Dao died in the year when Tang Xuanzong ascended the throne, so it may be that posterity will be attached to Jia Dao's cute personality based on jia dao's self-cherishing character.
So does this Tang Xuanzong understand poetry? Let's look at the elegy he wrote for Bai Juyi after his death, "Hanging Bai Juyi". One of the links was quoted when writing about Bai Juyi earlier, and the whole poem is as follows:

This writing skill and style are indeed superior. The poetry style of the Tang Dynasty was so prosperous that some emperors such as Tang Wuzong appreciated poetry, some emperors such as Tang Dezong admired poets, and some emperors such as Tang Xuanzong simply were poets themselves. Tang Xuanzong was pretentious in terms of literary style, believing that if he went to the examination for the jinshi, it was necessary to ascend to the throne, so he often signed his poems as "Li Daolongyun of the Township Tribute Jinshi", which seemed to be more exemplary than the money of the emperor. This also reflects from one side how noble the social status of the Tang Dynasty jinshi was.
When Jia Dao was dying, there was no money in the family, only the old sick donkey and a guqin that followed him to "deliberate" and rush into the honor guard together. People cherish his talent and lament his thin life. As for the poem, the most memorable poem is the poem "The Hidden Seeker Does Not Meet" that was selected for the primary school Chinese textbook:
The seekers do not meet
Panasonic asked the boy,
The speaker took the medicine and went.
Only in this mountain,
The clouds are deep and unknown.
Although Jia Dao's poetry was not the most outstanding in the Tang Dynasty, his spirit of bitter chanting and the excellent works that survived in the end were very influential in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties.
