Since ancient times, the Ninth Five-Year Emperor has been revered by the people of the world, especially some officials and nobles always like to give gifts to those in power, and after empress Dowager Cixi of the late Qing Dynasty took charge of the Qing Dynasty, it did attract a lot of stalkers, who in addition to looking for opportunities to pat themselves on the back every time they saw Lafayette, they would also carefully prepare some "generous gifts" to make Cixi happy.
It is said that Zhang Zhidong, a well-known minister of the Qing Dynasty, specially sent a pestle to Lafayette, and Cixi seemed to be happy after getting this object, and every night she slept in her arms.

Zhang Zhidong was one of the four famous courtiers in the late period, and his generation was very high in the imperial court, and his age was only about 2 years old for Empress Dowager Cixi. Because of his outstanding merits and strong professional ability, he has always been valued by Cixi, and he is also the most respected minister among Han officials among manchus. In the Environment of the Qing Court, where the Manchu han was degraded, Zhang Zhidong flourished and became Cixi's minister of honor, and Cixi was still entrusted to him before his death, which shows that Zhang Zhidong really succeeded.
Although Zhang Zhidong was highly valued by Empress Dowager Cixi, he also encountered a dangerous situation in that year, when he was the governor of Huguang in Liangguang, due to his strict style and excessive strict handling, a series of policies he implemented offended many local gentry and profiteers. Seeing that their cake was passive, these rich businessmen rushed to spend a lot of money to buy other officials, and through layers of bribes, they befriended Li Lianying, a big red man of Cixi, hoping that he could find a way to retaliate against Zhang Zhidong.
This Li Gonggong took the soft hands of others, and when he got great benefits, he ran to Cixi's side and blew the wind in his ears, complaining about zhang zhidong's various things. Then Li Lianying also took the wealth of the gentry to dredge up a group of imperial court officials, and joined forces with everyone to impeach Zhang Zhidong at the opening of the dynasty, and Cixi could only order Zhang Zhidong to return to Beijing for interrogation.
Geng Zhidong understood the reason, so he told Cixi that someone had deliberately planted a bribe to frame him, and these people were blocking the development of Huguang and trying to hinder the prosperity of the Qing Dynasty. After Zhang Zhidong finished speaking, he took out a treasure called "Descending Magic Wand", which was made of jade carving, crystal clear and eye-catching, and Cixi was very fond of it, so he did not pursue it any longer.
It turned out that Zhang Zhidong's "descending wand" was specially purchased from the Indian caravan by him, which was a kind of magic weapon of Indian Buddhism, shaped like a Mitsubishi knife, very sharp, and it was said that it could also be used for combat, after scratching people, the wounded area could not be stitched, only to die of blood.
Later, as soon as Empress Dowager Cixi had time, she took out the "descending magic wand" and played with it, and for a time regarded it as her beloved treasure, and what jade watermelon, night pearl, seven-star sword, etc. were temporarily thrown aside, and even when she slept, she had to sleep with the descending wand.
So why did Cixi prefer this descending wand?
This may be because it is related to the Buddhist magic weapon, and its name is the descending magic wand, which has the meaning of slaying demons and exorcising demons, as if it can make all demons dare not come close. The reason for this is really difficult to say, because Cixi seized power through means in her early years, during which she killed many people, these acts violated the Manchu ancestral precepts, so Cixi has always been very uneasy in her heart, often nightmares in the middle of the night, and there are too many government affairs during the day, so she often takes medicine to supplement her body, so to a certain extent, it leads to poor sleep quality, until Zhang Zhidong gave her this "descending wand", Cixi's sleep every night is much better.
Another reason may be that Cixi has always been very serious about the hole, thinking that he is very practical and far-sighted, so the treasure sent must not be an ordinary thing. Because of this psychological influence, Cixi has always regarded the descending wand as a treasure, sleeping every night and staying by the pillow, and after death, she also used the descending wand as a funerary object.
Unfortunately, after the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the warlord Sun Dianying blew up Cixi's mausoleum, swept away the treasure inside, and the whereabouts of the wand were lost. However, if this Kind of Indian Magic Instrument has been handed down to this day, it will be a matter of opinion on the historical background, and Cixi regards it as a treasure basically out of psychological comfort, and its true value still needs to be verified.
