The company developed a chip driver in the second year of its establishment, although there is still a big gap with chip manufacturing, but also launched the first shot of China's graphic display module to get rid of foreign dependence, successfully filled the gap in China's related fields, and provided a guarantee for the development of China's military industry.
Jingjiawei's first-generation GPU chip was released in 2014, and its performance is better than that of mainstream imported chips in the field of military electronic display. It is also since the beginning of this generation of products that Jingjiawei has basically covered all the military field graphics and display control orders.
Moreover, Jingjiawei also launched the JM7201 chip to test the civilian market. From the perspective of market position and product strength, Jingjiawei is indeed worthy of the title of China NVIDIA.
However, the gap between China's NVIDIA and the United States' NVIDIA is also obvious. The JM7201 discrete graphics card released by Jingjiawei in that year only reached the integrated graphics card level of foreign motherboards.
Even at this stage, Jingjiawei's strongest exclusive JM9 series cannot surpass NVIDIA's release of GTX1080 in 2016.
Core technology 100% self-developed
Of course, Jing Jiawei's task is not to achieve a counterattack against NVIDIA. In fact, the core selling point of Jingjia micro graphics card has never been performance, but security.
As we all know, GPU chips are accelerating their application in various industries and fields, if China cannot realize the self-development of GPU chips, then once overseas manufacturers do tricks on GPU hardware, China's national defense information, financial information, and even corporate information will be exposed.
The role of Jing Jiawei is to avoid this situation. Admittedly, the performance of the JM9 series chips is similar to that of NVIDIA's latest generation of products. However, the core technology of JM9 series graphics cards is 100% self-developed, and Jingjiawei has completely independent intellectual property rights.
This means that even if Jingjiawei is targeted by overseas manufacturers in the future and is blocked by technology, it can still produce GPU chips with its own capabilities.
It is worth mentioning that although the performance of the JM9 series graphics card is not very outstanding, it is more than enough to cope with daily use. According to the official technical indicators, JM9 series graphics cards can support 4K60 frame video decoding, 3D graphics support OpenGL 4.0, and daily entertainment office is not a problem.
Looking at the numerical value alone, JM9 series graphics cards can even be applied in SCENARIOS such as CAD-aided design and media processing, and the domestic replacement space is very large.
Products accelerate domestic substitution
In fact, the current Jingjia micro graphics card has begun to domestically replace NVIDIA products in the civilian market, although the JM9 series of chips have not yet been released, but other models of graphics processing chips have been widely used in the general market.
According to the financial report data released by Jingjiawei, in the first half of 2021, the company's products in the chip field achieved revenue of 214 million yuan, an increase of 1354% year-on-year. Total revenue across all businesses for the full year is expected to be between $1.08 billion and $1.2 billion, up 65% to 83% year-over-year.
In addition, it can also be seen through the financial report that the net profit of Jingjiawei has maintained a growth trend in the past five years, and the increase is getting higher and higher.
The main reason for this situation is that the competitiveness of Jingjiawei's products has improved, resulting in a significant increase in profit margins.
Official data shows that in the first half of 2021, the company's research and development expenses totaled 109 million, an increase of 49% year-on-year. Not only that, in the first half of 2021, Jingjiawei also recruited 210 R&D personnel, which helped Jingjiawei add nearly 200 patents.
At present, Jingjia micro products are seizing more and more market share from overseas manufacturers with the help of new technologies.
For Jingjiawei, the increasing wave of domestic substitution will become a good opportunity for its rise. At present, the military market has been taken down, government units are also constantly improving the procurement of related products, JM9 series graphics card listing, the civilian market will be further opened, the company's revenue, profit will usher in a new high, research and development investment will also be enhanced. Product upgrades and market growth interact to form a virtuous circle.
