Recently, foreign media published a sony's latest registered patent, the patent applicant is PS4 and PS5 hardware architect Mark Cerny, the name of the patent is "backward compatibility through the use of spoofed clocks and fine-grained frequencies." This is partly indicative that the Sony PS team is developing backwards compatible technology, and the PS5 console is hopefully compatible with more PS classic games in the future.
Although the patent does not explicitly mention any of the old Sony PS game platforms, this does not erase the efforts that the Sony PS team is making, and perhaps in the near future, we will see classic games such as PS2 and PS3 brought to the PS5 in a backward-compatible way.
