Wang Yi held talks with Bahrain's Foreign Minister: China is willing to be Bahrain's long-term and reliable strategic partner

Beijing, 12 Jan (China News Service) -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Bahraini Foreign Minister Zayenni in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, on 11 January.

Zayani first conveyed the cordial greetings of King Hamad and Crown Prince Salman to China's leaders and wished China prosperity. Zayeni said: Bahrain's relations with China have a long history and strong friendship. Bahrain attaches great importance to strengthening and deepening relations with China and is willing to comprehensively expand cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's good wishes to King Hamad, saying that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Pakistan relations have developed steadily and healthily, and pragmatic cooperation has achieved positive results. The two sides have always understood each other, supported each other and treated each other as equals, setting an example of peaceful coexistence and mutual benefit and win-win results for countries of different sizes and social systems. China appreciates Bahrain's firm adherence to a friendly policy toward China and thanks Bahrain for its firm support on issues involving China's core interests and major concerns. In the face of the countercurrent of unilateralism and protectionism, China resolutely opposes the use of the big to bully the small, the strong to bully the weak and the law of the jungle, firmly advocates and practices the concept of multilateralism, and firmly upholds the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. Wang Yi said that China will continue to provide vaccines according to Bahrain's needs, jointly adhere to the correct direction of international anti-epidemic cooperation, and adhere to the scientific and impartial nature of global traceability research. China supports Pakistan in promoting the construction of the "2030 Economic Development Vision", and is willing to strengthen cooperation between the two sides in the fields of 5G communications, e-commerce, digital economy and big data, actively participate in major development projects of pakistan, steadily promote infrastructure, photovoltaic and other projects, and explore cooperation in new energy and aerospace. Zayeni said that Bahrain highly agrees with the basic norms of international relations such as non-interference in internal affairs, mutual respect, good-neighborliness and friendship, and peaceful settlement of disputes, opposes the politicization of human rights issues, and supports China's efforts to maintain unity and stability. The Chinese government has a high support rate of more than 90% of the people, which fully confirms the success of the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the positive results of China's commitment to improving people's livelihood, developing democracy and protecting human rights. Bahrain and China have successfully jointly carried out phase III clinical trials of vaccines, thank China for providing assistance to Bahrain in achieving two doses of vaccine injection, and are willing to continue to strengthen cooperation with China to jointly cope with challenges.

The two sides agreed to further enrich people-to-people exchanges, support Bahrain in carrying out Chinese teaching, and facilitate personnel exchanges between the two sides. Zayeni said that Bahrain supports China in hosting the Beijing Winter Olympics and opposes the politicization of sports.

The two sides exchanged views on China's cooperation with the GCC. Wang Yi said that China appreciates the positive role played by Bahrain in the development of China-Sea relations and is willing to jointly promote the upgrading of China-Sea cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear issue and the situation in the Middle East.
