But as an emperor, Zhu Yuanzhang has his own pride, and he always feels inferior in culture, and he always wants to find opportunities to prove himself. Once, when he was born in the early dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang suddenly improvised the sentence "Lao Tzu is the first in the world". All the ministers looked at each other, but Zhu Yuanzhang said that if he showed this couplet, he would be greatly rewarded. In fact, China's couplet culture is indeed broad and profound. First of all, from the formal point of view, it should pay attention to the equality of the opposite. That is to say, if the upper link uses the flat character, the lower link must use the slang word. Also, the upper link is a noun, so the corresponding position of the lower link must also be a noun. Secondly, from the perspective of content, the meaning should be relative. The upper link praises the rivers and mountains, and the lower link also needs to praise the mountains and rivers, etc., which are very exquisite. Then I saw Zhu Yuanzhang's uplink, which is actually a casual remark, very stupid and has no cultural connotation.
But just when everyone was silent, a young man who had just entered the court stood up and replied: "Sun Tzu is unique in the world." Who knew that Zhu Yuan was furious when he heard this, and ordered the student to be executed immediately.
In fact, this student has also suffered injustice. Because Zhu Yuanzhang misunderstood what he meant. When Zhu Yuanzhang said that "Lao Tzu is the first in the world", he was referring to himself, not the great Chinese thinker Lao Tzu. When the students say that "Sun Tzu is unparalleled in the world", they are talking about the grandson of the great warrior. Through his own understanding, Zhu Yuanzhang successfully misinterpreted the meaning of the students. In fact, from the perspective of the couplet itself, the upper and lower couplets are neat and tidy, which is a good couplet.
