Linyi public security traffic police remind: rain and fog day travel, please pay attention to safety!

According to Linyi traffic police:

Recently, there is foggy weather in many places in our province, and the resulting road is slippery, low visibility and other factors have an adverse impact on driving travel, which is very easy to cause traffic accidents, Xiaobian has sorted out a list of rain and fog weather driving precautions for everyone, hurry up and learn!

Rain and fog weather driving should pay attention to:

1

Strictly control the speed of the car

Due to the low visibility of rain and fog, which can cause pedestrians and vehicles in front of them to be unable to see clearly, driving at low speeds can help allow vehicles to brake and stop immediately when they encounter unexpected situations. If visibility is within 10 meters, it is recommended to park in a safe area on the side of the road and turn on the headlights, fog lights and double flashing.

2

Do not brake hard

Rainy and foggy days are often the road is relatively slippery, at this time do not slam on the brakes, one is easy for vehicles to "run off", the other is that the visibility of foggy days is low, and slamming on the brakes is easy to cause accidents caused by rear-end vehicles. If you need to brake, you can slowly relax the throttle first, and then lightly step on the brake several times in a row to achieve the purpose of controlling the speed of the car and prevent the occurrence of rear-end accidents.

3

Don't rush to hit the steering wheel

On rainy and foggy days, the road surface is relatively wet and slippery, the difficulty of control when the car is driving will increase, and the steering wheel will be hit hard to turn the corner, and the vehicle is easy to slide. If you need to turn, it is recommended to reduce the speed, slowly turn the corner, and then return to normal speed after the end. In addition, if you can't see the situation of the opposite curve when turning, you should honk your horn to remind the other party to pay attention to the car.

4

Use the headlights correctly

Visibility is relatively low on rainy and foggy days, and the correct use of headlights can remind the opposite, front and rear vehicles. The specific method is that the line of sight is poor on rainy days, and it is generally necessary to turn on the low beam lights; if the visibility is very low, the front and rear fog lights and emergency lights should be turned on so that other vehicles or pedestrians can find themselves. However, on rainy and foggy days, drivers are advised to use high beams with caution, as high beams will be reflected by fog and cannot see the road clearly.

5

Maintain a certain distance

Visibility is low on rainy and foggy days, and if the distance between cars is too close, when the vehicle in front of you has a sudden accident, the rear car will often be too late to react, be affected, or cause a rear-end accident.

6

Pay attention to defogging

Method 1: Open window convection. If the fog in the car is not large, you can open a gap in the windows on both sides, so that the air inside and outside the car forms convection, the temperature difference is reduced, and the fog will slowly disappear. The principle of this method is the same as that of turning on the air conditioner cold air, but it does not increase fuel consumption. This method is not recommended in rainy and snowy weather, highways, and fog.

Method 2: Air conditioning balance. For most drivers, using air conditioning to remove fog is the most common method. Now basically all cars have air conditioning outlets under the front windshield, and if you are in a hurry to get on the road, you can use cold air emergency, but it is usually recommended to use warm air.

Method three: Use anti-fogging agents. Spray the anti-fog agent to the inner surface of the glass and wipe it clean, while removing the glass dirt, it can also form a protective film to prevent water vapor from condensing on the glass to form a fog layer, and spraying once can prevent fog for about 7 days.

In addition, the correct use of headlights is very critical

So how to use the headlights correctly in rainy and foggy weather?

Driving without turning on lights on rainy and foggy days will directly affect the judgment of the front car on the rear situation, that is, it is difficult to judge the position, distance and speed of the rear car. If the car in front changes its course or turns when the situation is unknown, it is likely to cause a rear-end collision accident. Driving a vehicle to turn on the lights, on the one hand, is to let us see the road conditions, on the other hand, it is also to let other vehicles and pedestrians observe and pay attention to themselves in time. The following figure can clearly see the difference between turning on the light and not turning on the light.

1. When the rainfall is small or the fog is thin, the width indication lamp should be used

Driving on rainy and foggy days is very particular about the use of lights, and we should decide what lights to turn on according to visibility. For example, when it first rains, the sky is dark, but the visibility is good, then we should use a width display lamp.

2, heavy rain or dense fog should turn on the headlights or front fog lights

When the rain is heavy or there is a thick fog obstructing the line of sight, then we should turn on the headlights or front fog lights. Some people think that turning on the fog lights will shake the car in front, in fact, as long as the fog lights are designed reasonably, this will not happen, because the fog lights themselves are not used for illumination when they are designed, and their beams are scattered, so they look bright but will not be dazzling.

Fog lights

1. Do not use double flash during driving

The so-called "double flash" is a hazard warning light, every car has it, and the switch is two triangles set together. Double flashing should only be used in very dangerous situations, such as if there is an accident ahead, or if you need to stop temporarily on the main road. In general, we should not use it during driving, if you abuse double flash, it is likely to pass the wrong information to the surrounding vehicles, which can easily lead to danger.

2. Do not use the width indication lamp for a long time

The width light is not to let you see the road clearly, but to let others better find and see you. In the process of gradual change of rain potential, if the use of width indicator lights from beginning to end is obviously incorrect, the lights should be reasonably switched according to the size of the rain potential.

3. Signal that the light is turned on

The position of turning on the lights is very different for different models of different models, and the following two common light on diagrams are listed for reference. Note: The width light in the following figure is the outline lamp.

4. Avoid using high beams

Fog has a reflective effect, if you turn on the high beam, the light will reflect through the fog into the car so that the line of sight in front of the car is white. The oversized halo produced by the high beam will occupy a large part of the human eye's vision, so that the driver's judgment of the width of the oncoming car and the situation behind it will be reduced, and the wrong action will be taken.

How much do you know about laws and regulations

In accordance with Article 58 of the Implementing Regulations of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, when a motor vehicle is driving at night without street lights, poor lighting, or in the case of fog, rain, snow, sand, hail and other low visibility conditions, it shall turn on the headlights, contour lights and rear position lights, but when the rear car driving in the same direction is close to the front car, it shall not use high beams. The fog lights and hazard warning flash lights should be turned on when driving on foggy days.
