BlackBerry Licensing Company: 5G phone release plan is not dead just delayed

According to Mobile World Live, startups trying to revive the BlackBerry phone brand revealed that it is still moving forward with plans to release 5G devices, despite delays to its original 2021 target and not providing any updates to the outside world about the project for nearly a year.

In a statement on the official website, BlackBerry's licensee, OnwardMobility, pointed out that the phone will be delayed due to greater resistance.

"2021 is truly a challenging year for launching a new phone, not to mention the high expectations we set and the fact that we want to get it right." The company explains.

After initial publicity, OnwardMobility remained silent about the project. It promises more regular updates in the future.

The startup is developing a 5G BlackBerry designed as a secure enterprise device with a physical keyboard.

OnwardMobility took over licenses to produce BlackBerry mobile devices from TCL Communication in 2020.

TCL Communications released several BlackBerry-branded phones during the four-year contract period, but failed to replicate the brand's success in the early 2010s.

A few days before the Progress of the OnwardMobility update, the original manufacturer of the same name blackBerry discontinued back-end support for its phone operating system and old device software.
