Wine culture has a long history in China, and the Xia Dynasty monarchs especially liked to drink, but the art of winemaking at that time was not superb, and the wine drunk was basically not filtered. The Shang Dynasty had a deep love for wine, as can be seen in the construction of the meat pond wine forest by the King of Lu, and judging from the cultural relics excavated from the Yin Ruins, many bronzes were used to hold wine.
In the Wei and Jin dynasties, the names of wine inevitably increased, such as pear blossom spring, thousand mile drunk, riding crab wine, etc., which meant that people paid more and more attention to wine. The unprecedented prosperity of wine culture was still in the Tang and Song Dynasties, poets were drunkards, and the "Eight Immortals in Drinking Song" revealed a hint of mystery, and these literati preferred to express their thoughts and concepts when drunk.
Many people in Chinese history loved wine, and wine inevitably became a funerary product. As we all know, the older the liquor, the better, so is the wine in the tomb really that delicious?
In fact, in 1974, a professor of history named Feng Yongqian answered the question for us. The archaeologist found a bottle of wine in an ancient tomb in Liaoning, and out of curiosity, he took a sip and was disappointed when he finished drinking it, because the wine was nothing special, only a little earthy.
Unexpectedly, in the same year, there were other people who drank the wine in the tomb. This man and his accomplices had been engaged in tomb robbery for more than a decade, and this time they found an ancient tomb in Liaoning, and after rushing over, they searched the tomb and found a bottle of aged wine. This was the first time they had encountered aged wine, and the two were very curious about it themselves.
So they opened the bottle and took a sip, and after drinking it, they found that it was completely different from the current wine, and the two of them drank it as if they had drunk white water. But what is surprising is that they are just about to move around, and they are unconscious.
Since there are tombs in this area, the state has specially sent people to patrol the vicinity to prevent tomb robbers from entering and leaving. The patrolman stumbled upon the robbery hole here, was surprised, and quickly ran down to see it, only to see only two people lying on the ground. He knew that these were two grave robbers, and although he did not know why they fell to the ground, he quickly called the police.
The police rushed to arrest them. But the two grave robbers woke up on the third day after they fell to the ground, which means that they were in a coma for two days. When they woke up, they laughed at the crowd with a sentence they said, "This wine is so hard to drink, how can it still be drunk?" ”
Wine in an ancient tomb is completely different from normal preservation. As mentioned earlier, the ancient winemaking technology is not high, generally speaking, liquor is only 5-8 degrees, hundreds of years can completely make its alcohol volatilization, and the tomb has some special substances, so it led to it producing toxic substances, so the tomb robbers drank it poured.
Of course, not all wines are more fragrant the longer they are, for example, green mash, it has two types, one is called old pickles, the other is called new pickles, the price of the former is obviously not as high as the latter, which also means that the taste of the former is not as good as the latter. Of course, ancient Chinese wine varieties are rich, not only these two, turbid wine, yellow wine, fruit wine, etc., it is no wonder that ancient celebrities were drunk in it, after all, their spiritual pursuit at that time was very little except for writing poetry and listening to music, drinking is a rare beautiful thing. What's more, the wine itself is mellow, and it is no wonder that archaeologists and tomb robbers have invariably chosen to try.
