Levan: Sousa is unbelievable and extremely disappointing to me, but he is not irreplaceable

Paulo Sousa recently resigned as Polish manager in favour of flamenco. Polish captain Lewandowski spoke about his views on the matter in an interview with Viaplay.

Levan: Sousa is unbelievable and extremely disappointing to me, but he is not irreplaceable

At the end of last year, Sosa received an offer from Flamengo, who decided to terminate his contract with the Polish Football Association. In this way, the Polish national team lost its manager three months before the start of the play-offs. The Portuguese decision came as a shock to many Polish internationals, as he had only promised to stay with the Polish national team half a month ago and had not informed anyone before deciding to terminate his contract. And after leaving, he didn't say goodbye to anyone.

Levan learned of the coach's resignation through the media: "At first I thought, is this true? I haven't heard anything from me before. It was shocking, unbelievable and extremely disappointing for me. I had just arrived in Dubai and it happened on my way to the hotel and a friend of mine told me about it. ”

The Polish captain admitted that Sousa did not contact him before and after leaving: "I wonder if this is media gossip or if something really happened." But a day later everything turned into official news. I was in Dubai and I didn't feel the need to make long distance calls. It was his decision. At the worst of things, there are still a lot of issues to be solved. On the other hand, I was wondering how I could turn it into a good thing. Nothing bad doesn't turn out to be good. ”

Levan: Sousa is unbelievable and extremely disappointing to me, but he is not irreplaceable

Currently, the president of the Polish Football Association is looking for a new coach who consulted the internationals while selecting the coach. Levan said: "We kept in touch, but in the end, the chairman knew which coach to choose. It's his job, but I'm trying to find the positives. Maybe this thing will give us more confidence that we can play better and look better as a team. ”

Levan added: "I'm not a person who reminisces about the past. My point is that there is no irreplaceable person in the world. I want the new coach to make the right decisions and we know what we're fighting for. But now is not the time for major changes, and the sooner you decide who will take over the team, the better for us and for the coach himself. Perhaps the most painful thing for all of us is that he is dealing with it through the media. You have to look to the future, to look to our future. ”

Poland will face the semi-finals of the play-off against Russia in March, and Levan concluded: "To see how many training sessions we have left, it is important that the coach understands the players and what to do, but not to change too much. The playoffs are the most important, and now that should be a priority. When new coaches come along, there's always some uncertainty. I realized we didn't have time and we just had to take it quickly and make plans for the playoffs. ”
