Li Lianying was the largest eunuch in the late Qing Dynasty, with great power and deeply loved by Empress Dowager Cixi. The extent to which it is liked can be seen from its official position. The Qing Dynasty learned the lesson of the Ming Dynasty eunuchs who manipulated power and chaos, and tried their best to restrict eunuchs' participation in state affairs, and in the Yongzheng period, it was even stipulated that the official position of eunuchs should not be higher until the sipins! However, Empress Dowager Cixi actually broke the ancestral system and named Li Lianying as a member of the Erpin Dynasty, which can be described as a dragon pet home.
In 1908, Empress Dowager Cixi died, and the burial ceremony was presided over by Li Lianying. In that year, Li Lianying left the palace, and the then Empress Longyu, seeing her hard work and high achievements, allowed her to retire with her original treatment. However, in 1911, Li Lianying died suddenly, and after Empress Longyu learned of it, she allocated special funds for her burial. Li Lianying's tomb was selected in the Enjizhuang Eunuch Cemetery in Beijing, covering an area of 20 acres, built extremely luxuriously, proud of the eunuch cemetery, which can be described as standing out from the crowd and very eye-catching. It can be compared with the tomb of the emperor and the general, and should accompany the burial of many treasures.
In 1966, archaeologists excavated the Li Lianying cemetery in Enjizhuang, and dug for a week to find the entrance, and after entering the cemetery, opening the coffin made the archaeologists take a breath of cool air and frighten out a cold sweat, because in Li Lianying's coffin, there was only one head, and only the skull was left at that time, and the lower body was completely absent.
And in the coffin, archaeologists found four priceless treasures, a diamond hat ornament, the pearl on it is larger than the Queen of England wore, as well as the Han Dynasty's green jade soil dipping sword, full of yellow soaked jade bracelet, Song Dynasty's green jade brown soaking ring, these four pieces are priceless treasures, valuable ah. A eunuch can have so many treasures when he is buried, which shows that he also has a lot of property looted before his death.
But, judging from its coffin, what about its lack of a corpse? Obviously, it was not the tomb robbers who stole it, so the tomb robbers were all aiming at the treasure, so why not want the treasure and ask the eunuch's lower body for the corpse. Therefore, the only explanation is that Li Lianying only had her head when she was buried. But why this happened, and who killed Li Lianying is unknown! It's still foggy!
