The Los Angeles Rams lost their second-year running back Cam Ax in July, and now that the season is coming to an end, Ax is expected to return in week 18 and the Rams' playoffs will be supported by the powerful running back.
Team manager Sean McVeigh said Ax appears to have recovered from an injury to Achilles' tendon rupture and has done well on the training ground. But even if he could play in the 18th week, Ax wouldn't have to worry too much about running football, and his return would be an extra bonus for the Rams.

Last month, the Rams' main running back Darrell Henderson injured the medial collateral ligament in his knee and may not return until the playoff division round. Sony Mitchell has since taken on most of the running work, and when Ax returns, he will have a smaller workload.
The 12-4 Rams are currently in second place in the League of Nations, and in week 18 they will face 49 old rivals. The 49ers will fight for a playoff spot, the Rams can't put water, and the last time they beat the 49ers was three years ago, and this time they're going to take advantage of Ax's return.
Ax played to the end of last season and sat in the Rams' main running back position, with the same game he played against the Patriots in week 14, when he ran 171 yards on 29 rushes. He was also the Rams' main player in two playoff games, running 131 yards in the win over the Seahawks and 90 yards in the loss to the Packers.
