Near the end of the film, the killer, Gordon, is handcuffed with interest, interviewed by reporters, and frankly declares that he is innocent, just as he stood in the dock in a straight suit. It is hard to believe that the seemingly polite and polite young man could be a murderous demon who brutally killed nearly 20 children.

What Shi Zuojun wants to discuss more is that the tragedy occurred, the era "cannot do without merit", how the person who prompted the tragedy can escape the public crusade, and how those who shine in the dark are dazzling.
The film began in California in 1928, a single mother Christine Collins alone with her son Walter Collins, Christine is the first female director of the telephone company, March 10 was originally an ordinary Saturday, Christine made an appointment to take her son to the movie, a call from the company, interrupted her plan, in desperation, she had to go to the company to work overtime, leaving her son alone at home.
It was hard to stay up until after work, Christine was in a hurry to go home, but she was stopped by the leader to talk about the promotion, she had a hard time getting rid of the leader, but she finally missed the bus home, a bright red bus. The whole film uses very gray and dark colors, and the whole of Los Angeles seems to be covered by a layer of mist, but this bus is particularly bright.
When he returns home, he finds that Walter is not there, and the panicked Christine hurried around, and until nightfall, he still did not find any trace of his son. In desperation, she had to choose to ask the police for help, but the person who received the police call refused to file a case on the grounds that she had been missing for less than 24 hours, and Christine anxiously waited until the next day, and the police station sent someone to come.
In addition, she insisted on calling the local police stations every day to ask for the news of her son, for a time, the news of Walter's disappearance spread throughout the streets and alleys of Los Angeles, but as the days passed, Christine still did not wait for the news of her son, until a phone call from the police station 5 months later, Walter found it!
Full of joy and excitement, she came to the train station, surrounded by police and reporters, and waited for her son, who had disappeared for 5 months. But when she saw the boy coming off the train, she found that the boy was not her son at all, and the police captain Jones forced her to take the boy back on the grounds that she was too excited and that the 5-month-old child's ordeal had changed.
When the "machine gun squad" speaks in a language that only Commissioner Davis can understand, we do so in a voice of sympathy, justice, and force. We speak for our citizens, for those who have been beaten and killed by corrupt police stations. We speak for an innocent child, taken from his mother's arms and now forgotten by the police. Such voices, my friends, will never be silent.
The Los Angeles police were notorious at the time, with corruption and incompetence being hatped over their heads, and it was hard to have a chance to solve the case of a missing child, and the police wanted to use it to justify themselves, so no matter who the child was, under the watchful eye of a group of reporters and the masses, he had to be Walter.
When she measured her son's height in the bath, she found that the boy was 3 inches shorter than her son (there was a little bug here, Christine said 3 inches shorter, but when she went to court, she said it was 4 inches shorter), and after cutting the foreskin, she became more and more sure that the boy was not her son. She goes to the police station again, finds Jones, and tells him that the boy is indeed not her son, but Jones thinks that Chrissy is trying to get rid of the son's oil bottle, so she does not want to recognize the son, after all, the boy can clearly say his mother's name and the address of his home, Jones dismisses Christine back.
In desperation, Christine took her son to see the dentist, the dentist had Walter's medical records, very clear that the boy was not Walter, and was willing to issue a certificate for Christine, and then she took the boy to the school, the boy did not remember his teacher, could not find his seat, the teacher also firmly believed that the boy was not Walter.
She was approached by a priest named Gustav, who had been tasked with exposing police brutality and offered to help her when he learned about Christine. The two decided to use public opinion to put pressure on the police, and Christine announced in front of reporters that the boy he found was not his son, and the police were sent to a mental hospital for 12 crimes of obstructing police official duties.
Christine is suffering all kinds of torture in a mental hospital, while Agent Lester is working on a smuggling case involving a boy who, when he is about to be extradited to Canada, confesses to Lester that he had killed under Gordon's coercion, and the two killed nearly 20 children. Lester immediately reports the incident to Captain Jones, but Jones is struggling with Walter's affairs and has no intention of anything else, and he tells Lester that the boy must have lied to be able to stay in the United States, so that Lester will not be bothered.

But Lester wasn't entirely reassured, he saw Sanford trembling as he recalled the killing, and he was really scared, so Lester took him to Gordon's farm before Sanford was extradited back to Canada, and Sanford personally dug up the bones with a shovel. The skeletons of nearly 20 children shocked the whole of Los Angeles, and among these 20 children, there was most likely Walter, so the boy who was retrieved was really not Christine's son, and Gustav took someone to the mental hospital and took Christine out.
Such an oolong incident has pushed the Los Angeles police to the cusp of the storm, and the mental hospital, because of the 12 people who were imprisoned, were rescued with the help of Christine, and these people were forced into mental hospitals for insisting on opposing themselves against the police.
Think about the bones buried on the farm, why so many people have disappeared for so long, but no one has found them, no one is even looking for them, where are their families, who are the people who are locked up in the mental hospital because of Article 12?
Ponder the horror.
So was Gordon able to commit a crime for years without being discovered because he was violent enough and well hidden, or was no one looking for these missing children at all? If it hadn't been for Christine's insistence on finding Walter, and it happened that Sanford had a chance to be found, how many children would have died under Gordon's axe?
And who was the boy who jones found?
He's just a boy who cheats with homeless people, and he sees Walter's news on TV, he wants to impersonate Walter, he can come to Los Angeles, maybe have a chance to meet the stars he likes, nothing more, and it is precisely because of his appearance that he disturbs the entire Los Angeles police community, and the real Walter loses the opportunity to be sought.
Gordon was arrested for hiding at his sister's house and being reported by his sister, who insisted he was innocent, saying he had not killed Walter, and that he was sentenced to hanging under the overwhelming evidence, Captain Jones was permanently suspended, the police chief was removed, and the mayor did not participate in the election.
It seems that everything has come to an end, but Walter's whereabouts are still unknown, and Gordon asks to interview Christine before the execution to tell her walter's whereabouts, but when Christine actually sits across from him, he repents. Christine witnessed Gordon's hanging and then, hopefully, continued to search for Walter's whereabouts.
It wasn't until 1935 that a retrieved child brought news about Walter again for Christine. David, a child who escaped from the hands of the murderous demon Gordon, once he and Walter and another boy were locked up together, they found that the iron fence of the farm had loose parts, the three of them escaped in the night, but David was hung by the iron fence, Gordon also heard the movement, Walter, who had already escaped, turned back to help David, and when David came down from the fence, Gordon had already chased out with a gun. The three children ran away separately, and this was the last time David saw Walter, so he didn't know if Walter was captured by Gordon or escaped.
The story is basically over at this point.
Remember the red bus that Shi Zuojun once mentioned? Later in the story, when Christine came out of the mental hospital, she was sitting on the red bus, passing by her son's school, this car has her shared memories with her son, but also because of missing this car, she missed the time to go home, in the whole play nearly black and white gray tones, the red bus, Angelina Jolie's red lips are a bright color that is difficult to remember.
I have to say that the role of the single mother created by Angelina Jolie, thin, fragile, strong, beautiful, sexy, there is no way to choose an accurate word to describe, these words are very appropriate but not complete, the whole story, she has always been well-dressed, makeup is complete. In the course of many negotiations with Captain Jones, no matter how hurtful Jones's words were, Christine maintained the dignity of an adult, there was no hysterical roar, and the strong emotions were suppressed by her efforts, and several times on the verge of collapse, she found her sanity again. Even in the mental hospital, she pretended to be a patient, but still firmly believed that her son had not been recovered.
Mention of "The Doubtful Cloud of The Change" is the prototype of the story, the "chicken coop murder" that shocked the world. Some details in the film do not match the facts, such as the murderer in the movie is Gordon and his brother Sanford, but in the real case, the murderer is Gordon and his grandmother (also said to be the mother) coercing his nephew Sanford to commit the crime together.
In the film, Captain Jones is sentenced to permanent suspension, and the real police captain leaves the police station in the name of retirement, and the compensation awarded to Christine is not paid. As for why the film is not filmed according to the facts, I think I just want the audience to see the little light in the darkness, just like Walter's dentist, teacher, priest, are in that dark era, emitting hot points of light.
Walter's tragedy was caused by Gordon, while Christine's tragedy was given by that era, the mayor who only cared about the election and did not care about the people's livelihood, the director who only cared about political achievements, the captain of the corpse vegetarian meal, the numb nurse in the mental hospital, the doctor who was in cahoots with the police, and everyone's small selfishness made the whole society more ruthless, which is the tragedy of an era.
