Wang Yong deployed the 56th Regiment in and around Miaodi Village to undertake the main ambush task; a battalion of the 3rd Regiment was deployed in a ditch on the east side of Xindian Village, and was responsible for cutting off the enemy's retreat after the enemy entered the ambush circle of our army; two battalions of the 55th Regiment were deployed in a ditch on the west side of Shicun and were responsible for attacking the enemy from the flank.
The 56th Regiment set out from Yuxiang Township on the evening of the 9th, marched rapidly day and night, and arrived at the town of Xichangle in Pinglu County on the evening of the 10th. At this time, the enemy discovered the actions of our army, in order to confuse the enemy, a small number of troops disguised as the main force to carry out guerrilla warfare in the direction of Sun Ferry, so that the enemy outside our army only harassed it, and the main force concealed the ambush position northward, perhaps the enemy knew that there were only local troops nearby, no field troops, so they did not pay attention to the harassment along the way. On the 11th, the troops involved in the ambush had reached the designated position. There are no pieces of green yarn tents near Miaodi Village, but there are many broken temples, cave dwellings, abandoned houses, as well as trenches and transportation trenches left over from the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, which are convenient for our army to hide.

Wang Yong made a brief pre-war mobilization of cadres at and above the company level; he first asked everyone not to take the enemy lightly; the enemy is a contingent that has been formed for many years and has fought fiercely with our army many times when attacking the liberated areas of the Central Plains. After he handed over the tasks of the various units, he said to the commanders of the 3rd Company and 6th Company of the 56th Regiment, "As long as the two knives of the 3rd and 6th Companies are separated from the enemy's formation and directly inserted into Han Village, they will complete the task successfully." He also specifically instructed the artillery company to make the first hit to support the infantry attack. After listening to Commander Wang's words, the battalion commanders all shook their fists and prepared for a great victory.

At 14:00 on the afternoon of the 12th, the 248th Regiment of Chiang Kai-shek's army swung into the ambush circle of our army, without the slightest defense. When the enemy's forward was only more than ten meters away from our ambush position, the mortar shells of the artillery company roared down in the middle of the enemy, the commanders and fighters opened fire at the same time, and the machine guns, rifles, pistols, and bullets quickly harvested the enemy's lives. The 3rd and 6th companies attacked the enemy positions as fierce tigers on the following mountain, and then the 1st and 2nd companies also launched a charge. The artillery company accurately hit the enemy's command structure, so that the enemy regimental commander and other commanders could not give orders at the first time, coupled with the rapid movement of the soldiers, the enemy's position was chaotic, and it was divided by our army.
When the enemy regiment commander launched an attack on our army, he still thought that he had been attacked by guerrillas, and before he could react, the soldiers of the 3rd Company rushed behind him and captured him. Some of the enemy tried to retreat into Han Village, relying on the earthen walls of houses in the village to resist, and the soldiers of the 3 companies immediately rushed up to stop their attempts with close combat.
Most of the enemy was suppressed east of Han Village and in the ditch, and a battalion of the 3rd Regiment and two companies of the 55th Regiment were also surrounded and controlled by the enemy. A small number of enemies took the road and fled, and the 1st Company of the 56th Regiment pursued it for 15 miles, fighting fiercely for less than an hour, destroying this enemy.

The enemy who was surrounded did not know the strength of our army, and the regimental commander was captured, and for a time it became a ragtag crowd, and under the shouts of our soldiers, most of the enemy chose to surrender. At this time, less than two hours after our army launched the offensive, 1,500 enemy personnel were completely annihilated, of which more than 1,400 were captured, and our army only suffered more than 30 casualties, creating a 50:1 battle loss ratio, and creating a record of total annihilation of a well-equipped enemy with local troops in the case of inferior troops.
In this battle, the troops participating in the battle were properly deployed before the war, and they successfully confused the enemy, causing the enemy to misjudge our army's intentions, and the ambush positions were cleverly deployed; the enemy did not notice that our army was ambushed, the battle process was clean and sharp, and the enemy was annihilated before he could find out the strength of our army. Commander Wang Yong, who commanded the battle, was also soon transferred to the position of brigade commander of the 24th Brigade. Through this battle, our army completely controlled the roads and villages between Yuncheng and the Yellow River crossing, laying the foundation for the successful attack on Yuncheng in the future.
