Barra, who delivered a remote keynote at the annual CES in Las Vegas, focused on the two topics of vehicle electrification and autonomous driving, said the self-driving car for personal use is being developed in conjunction with Cruise, in which GM has a majority stake.

Barra said GM's expanding electric vehicle portfolio includes the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup and BrightDrop commercial vehicle line. Also included are two new Chevrolet crossovers, both due to launch in 2023, an Equinox EV worth $30,000 and a slightly larger Blazer EV.

GM's new Ultra Cruise hands-free driving system will also debut in 2023 in another new electric vehicle, the Cadillac Celestiq ultra-luxury sedan. Barra said Ultra Cruise will use Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Ride computing platform to provide advanced driver assistance.

At last year's CES, Cadillac came up with two futuristic concepts, including flying cars. At this year's event, Barra unveiled its third Cadillac concept car, The InnerSpace, which was described as a self-driving, two-seater luxury coupe.

Cadillac's fourth concept, OpenSpace, is dubbed "a vision for the next decade and beyond" in a short video. GM insiders described it as a "luxury hotel room with wheels."
