Higher Panamax freight rates offset the decline in other vessel freight rates

The Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Rate Index changed almost last wednesday, with Panamax freight rates rising, offsetting lower cape and ultra-handy freight rates. The Baltic Sea Overall Dry Freight Price Index rose 4 points, or 0.18 percent, to 2289 points. The Cape Freight Rate Index fell 49 points, or 2.1 percent, to 2301, its lowest level since late March 2021. The average daily profit of cape-type vessels decreased by $406 to $19,084. The Panamax Freight Index rose 129 points, or 4.5 percent, to 3,003. The average daily profit of Panamax vessels increased by $1158 to $27865. The ultra-handy freight rate index fell 44 points to a multi-month low of 2165 points.
