At the same time, there is also very noteworthy news, Nvidia also announced today that it is making a free version of Omniverse for millions of individual creators and artists.

Omniverse is Nvidia's foundational platform for interconnecting virtual worlds, where creators can create more 3D games and create countless 3D content that opens the door to the metaverse.

Top new flagship RTX 3090 Ti

At CES 2022, Jeff Fisher, senior vice president of NVIDIA's GeForce, pulled out the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti in the One More Thing session.

The RTX 3090 Ti has the same three-slot design as the RTX 3090 and looks no different from the RTX 3090.

The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti uses ampere architecture, the video memory is the same as the 3090, has 10752 stream processors, the base frequency is 1560 MHz, the acceleration frequency is 1860 MHz, equipped with 24GB of GDDR6X memory, the speed reaches 21 Gbps, plus 384-bit memory bandwidth, the theoretical memory bandwidth exceeds 1TB/s, which will be the first time in the history of GeForce graphics cards to cross 1TB/s bandwidth.

The RTX3090 Ti has the same amount of VRAM as the RTX3090, but the memory clock is nearly 7.7 percent faster, which will dramatically improve performance for 4K gaming and AI tasks.

In addition, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti single-precision floating-point performance is 40T FLOPS, reaching the highest level of graphics cards currently on ampere architecture.

The RTX3090 Ti's TDP has also been increased to 450W, and it is also the first graphics card to use the new PCIe 5.0 external power interface.

Jeff Fisher did not disclose the specific launch time and price today. But said it would release more details on the RTX3090 Ti later this month.

Bringing light-chasing technology to mainstream desktop GPUs

Compared to the unexpected surprise of the RTX 3090 Ti, Jeff Fisher introduced the RTX 3050 of the 50 series in more detail. This is the first time Nvidia has brought ray tracing technology to the 50 series of desktop GPUs, which also means that ray tracing technology will usher in the popularity of the desktop GPU market.

The RTX3050 also uses ampere architecture, has 2560 CUDA cores, 8GB of GDDR6 memory, 128 bits of memory width, 14Gbps of memory rate, and 130W of TDP. The GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card has a single-precision floating-point performance of 9T FLOPS, which is 38% better than the GeForce RTX 2060 (6.5T FLOPS).

Jeff Fishe said that 75% of gamers are still using GeForce GTX graphics cards, and a significant proportion of them will be the target group of GeForce RTX 3050, which will replace the GTX 1650 series in the future.

Leifeng network learned that the official suggested retail price of GeForce RTX 3050 is $249 and will be available on January 27.

In addition to the desktop market, in terms of mobile platforms, NVIDIA also announced the launch of more than 160 GPU laptops equipped with the new GeForce RTX 30 series, using the new 4th generation Max-Q technology to further improve efficiency, performance and battery life.

The free version of Omniverse is going to open the door to the metaverse

If updating the GPU is considered Nvidia's routine operation at CES, then Omniverse's update can be used to discover Nvidia's expectations and plans for the future.

Jeff Fishe said in his speech, "Omniverse ends the beta era. ”

This marks a new phase in which Omniverse, the foundational platform NVIDIA has built for the virtual world.

From the public beta version launched a year ago, Omniverse has been downloaded by nearly 100,000 creators. At the 2011 GTC, NVIDIA released the paid Omniverse Enterprise Edition. Today, Nvidia announced that it is making omniverse available to millions of individual creators and artists around the world.

Nvidia offers free editions to individual creators and artists in order to truly enrich the content of the virtual world, because to achieve a true metaverse, countless 3D content including stores, homes, characters, robots, factories, museums, etc. can be created not only by enterprises, but also by a large number of individual creators.

However, the process of producing 3D content is challenging, often requiring multiple incompatible tools to work together. Omniverse wanted to connect the world of independent 3D design to a shared virtual scene and dramatically reduce the difficulty of development and creation.

For individual users, with the free version of Omniverse, GeForce RTX Studio creators can connect their favorite 3D design tools to a single scene and create and edit between two apps at the same time.

The one-click collaborative 3D large-scale scene co-creation mode is enabled by omniverse Nucleus Cloud, which allows artists, whether at opposite ends of the room or around the globe, to collaborate without having to transfer large data sets. Changes from different creators are reflected in a timely manner, just like sharing a document using the cloud, except that it is 3D.

Based on the convenient collaboration mode, Omniverse also has omniverse Machinima features for RTX creators who love games, which already features new free characters, objects, and scenes from major game titles, such as Mecha Warrior 5 and Shadow Samurai 3, as well as Horseback & Slash II: Overlords and Tactical Squad materials from the Machinima Library. Creators can recreate and composite their own game cutscenes by dragging and dropping these footage into their own scenes.

Games will be an important part of the metaverse, as will other virtual content.

Nvidia said that with the support of the Omniverse ecosystem, creators can easily build scenes. Currently, there are 14 connectors that can be connected to applications such as Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, and Epic Games' Unreal Engine, and many more are in the pipeline, including the upcoming Adobe Substance 3D Material extension.

Shutterstock's TurboSquid, CGTrader, Sketchfab, and Twinbru have released thousands of Omniverse-enabled assets for creators, all in USD (Universal Scene Description) format and directly available in Omniverse Launcher. Reallusion's ActorCore, Daz3D and e-on software's PlantCatalog will soon release their own Omniverse-compatible footage.

It is reported that e-on software's PlantCatalog is a collection of more than 120 ready-made procedural vegetation materials that can be provided.

Omniverse also has an important feature update, Omniverse Audio2Face, which requires only one audio track to instantly animate 3D faces, and now offers BlendShape support and direct exports for Epic's MetaHuman Creator app.

Write at the end

AS an important exhibition for consumers, CES can see their views on the future from the latest releases of major companies. As far as NVIDIA's release is concerned, updating the GPU during CES is the focus, but at the same time, it should also be seen that whether it is the RTX 3050 highlighted today, or the promotion of high-performance GPUs on mobile PCs, it is actually promoting the popularization of ray tracing technology and bringing more vivid and realistic pictures.

With a powerful enough hardware platform, the complete virtual world, or metaverse, becomes a natural fit for the omniverse. Everything is based on GPUs, whether it is the enterprise version or omniverse for individuals, the purpose is to enrich virtual content and promote the development of the metacosm, which can further promote the demand for GPUs, form a virtuous circle, and obtain the momentum of sustainable development.
