On December 20, 2021, at the door of the classroom of the fifth grade and sixth class of Shanxi Experimental Primary School, Feng Mei, who was preparing to attend class, was blocked by the students, and the children in the classroom were preparing something. Sick and hospitalized for half a month, the day was the first time she saw her children after being discharged from the hospital. "It should have been written on the blackboard," Feng Mei guessed in her mind as she was dragged into the classroom by the class leader. On the electronic screen, the video recorded by the children began to play, "Teacher Feng, we can't go to see you, but our hearts will always be with you", "Mother Teacher, we miss you", "Teacher Feng, hurry up and get better"... Each student in the class wrote cards and expressed their thoughts and blessings for Teacher Feng one by one.
Watching the video and listening to the children's sincere words, "old teacher" Feng Mei still failed to control her emotions and burst into tears. The children were worried about her and looked forward to her. At that moment, she felt that she was the happiest teacher.
Love is the source of all happiness. Learning to love, expressing love, and passing on love are the core of the class "home" culture created by Feng Mei. As a homeroom teacher, she uses the "home" culture to bring the children together, so that they have an emotional bond between each other. When encountering a sick and absent child, the learning committee takes the initiative to arrange classmates to help make up lessons; two children who are in trouble, without waiting for the teacher to mediate, shake hands and make peace; children will talk to her when they have a heart, and "calling parents" becomes a small probability event in Feng Mei's class.
Under the influence of the "home" culture, the children care for each other and help each other, so Feng Mei has become a "lazy teacher" who does not like to manage things. Outside of class, she put more energy into taking the children to read.
With books, children will go further
Using poetic language to guide students to a poetic life is Feng Mei's innermost thought. "In the fourth grade, I read "Li Bo pin poetry" and "Liu Shen Lei Lei reading Tang poems", and this semester I read "Kang Zhen Lectures on Poetry Immortal Li Bai" and "Kang Zhen Talks about Poetry Saint Du Fu", and in a limited time, I want to help children build a basic poetry learning system." When it comes to reading poems, Feng Mei's eyes sparkle. Read Su Dongpo and feel his open-mindedness in life; read the first Tang Dynasty four masters and analyze their shining points and life shortcomings. The thousands of lives and situations behind the poetry book are what Feng Mei wants children to learn.
In addition to learning ancient poetry, Feng Mei is also a "recommendation officer" for good books, good songs, and good movies. When you encounter books suitable for children, read them first and then share their feelings; teach children to appreciate songs through lyrics; after the release of the movie "Chosin Lake", watching movies on weekends has become a language homework.
If "reading" is "swallowing", then the distinctive "language lecture hall" provides children with an opportunity to "vomit". Simmer over low heat to learn knowledge and master the essence between swallowing and spitting. Feng Mei opened a "language lecture hall" for children without content restrictions, children on the podium to share their own reading insights, tell the story of dinosaur extinction, analyze the structure and function of tanks... The lecture hall enhances the children's language skills and opens up the space for play without boundaries.
This method of creating a reading system and helping students develop reading habits has made a big difference to a child who used to "go to class in a daze and toss after class". "When he felt bored in class, he stopped being in a daze and started reading extracurricular books!" Feng Mei was happy for him in her heart. "Some parents have also reported that children will now 'resist', and it is the tao to talk to adults." Hearing the "complaints" of parents, Feng Mei was very happy, and the child's emotions had a positive channel of channeling, and they would not develop in an extreme direction.
Books are medicines, and good reading can cure stupidity. Feng Mei hopes that her children can find the direction of their dreams in the book and find a "third person" who helps them in the difficult situation.
