Since Apple announced its shift to not just a hardware and software company but also a service company in 2018, it has launched a number of new subscription services such as Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and ultimately the Apple One bundle. Now, a report suggests the company may launch an audiobook service later this year.

According to an article by The Economist, there is news that Apple will launch an audiobook service later this year. Unfortunately, the report only mentioned a possible audiobook service once, but this is the first time that mainstream publications have supported this new field.

But a few weeks ago, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman wrote in his Power On newsletter that people should be ready for more Apple services in 2022. While he didn't make any assumptions, Gurman gave his opinion on what Apple should do. In his words — "Expand the Apple One program and better integrate services."

Notably, Audible is part of Apple's premium subscription entertainment provider's established plan to purchase audiobooks using Audible credits directly in the app from 2021, just as users can buy Amazon Prime movies and TV shows in Amazon's built-in content store.
