Sun Shulei: It is not a masterpiece of Mr. Zhu Quan, but a few people in the world who know Zhu Quan - Preface to the Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents on Zhu Quan's Research

Time flies, and it's another year in a hurry. The task of accepting the preface by his mentor Mr. Yao Pinwen to write the preface to his manuscript "Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents on Zhu Quan's Research" was in September 2016, when the layers of forest will be dyed, and it is now the New Year's Day of 2017, when the shiwei dynasty sequence is in progress. Although there are various reasons for the busyness of teaching and scientific research, the main reason for the delay in writing is that it is difficult to take on this heavy responsibility.

However, in the end, I was moved by the fact that at the age of 83, I was still attached to Zhu Quan's research for more than forty years, and my pen cultivation has not stopped to this day, as a disciple, the master's life is difficult to violate and needs to be said, that is, in terms of the academic spirit of Guangqian Yuhou, I also have the responsibility to help my teacher, so I am relieved of the order.

A scholar is a person who has expertise in a certain aspect of research, rather than a person who is involved in any academic field and has no in-depth research. Academics are unlimited, people's energy is limited, and the most effective way to devote limited energy to unlimited academic undertakings is to concentrate on fighting "tough battles".

Zhu Quan's research is an academic field for which Yao Shishi has worked tirelessly throughout his life. Her first monograph on this subject, The Study of Zhu Quan, was published in 1993 (published by Jiangxi University Press). Since then, with the continuous deepening of research, he has successively published "Ningwang Zhu Quan" (Art and Humanities Publishing House, 2002 edition), "Taihe Zhengyin Spectrum Commentary" (Zhonghua Bookstore 2010 edition), "The King and the Scholar - The Life of Ningwang Zhu Quan" (Zhonghua Bookstore 2013 edition), counting this upcoming "Compilation of Historical Materials on Zhu Quan's Research", Yao Shi has published five treatises on Zhu Quan's research.

On the scale of the five monographs, from the perspectives of politics and military, family life, travel experience, cultural ecology, writing achievements, theoretical value, documentary value, academic history research, etc., Zhu Quan, as a king and scholar, has been studied in an all-round way, and its breadth and depth can be said to have been basically completed and thoroughly done.

Professor Yao Pinwen

This made Yao Shi not only the "first person to study Zhu Quan" (Luodi), but also the only scholar who could achieve such fruitful results in the field of Zhu Quan's research.

The reverence for the research object and the sense of mission for academic research were the driving forces for Yao Shi to engage in Zhu Quan's research. In 1993, with a thirst for knowledge and scholarship, I studied at the Second Division of Yao and Wan (Ping). Master Yao taught me to rule the qu, and Master Wan taught me to rule the Ministry.

Master Yao gave a lecture on the history of Chinese opera and the study of opera theory, and often talked about Zhu Quan's achievements in popularizing culture and the theoretical value of the Taihe Zhengyin Spectrum inside and outside the classroom. In her speech, she particularly emphasized that Zhu Quan's change of title to Nanchang has made brilliant contributions to the cultural prosperity and cultural education of Nanchang, Jiangxi and even the whole of China, and as a Scholar of Nanchang today, she has the obligation and responsibility to study Zhu Quan in depth and discover the academic achievements of Zhu Quan and his works.

Yao Shi deeply regretted that Zhu Quan had been held captive by Zhu Di during the Battle of Jingnan, expressed his admiration for Zhu Quan's retreat after the Jingnan and his arrival in Nanchang to educate the people by reviving culture, and felt resentful and guilty that some local officials in modern Nanchang did not attach importance to and misinterpret Zhu Quan (such as confusing Zhu Quan with Zhu Chenhao and The Two Ning Kings), and felt resentful and guilty that Zhu Quan's tomb was not protected by the local government.

Portrait of Zhu Quan

At that time, I vaguely felt that Master Yao had already studied Zhu Quan very deeply. However, she modestly said that her research on Zhu Quan still has many things to do, such as although more than 60 kinds of Zhu Quan's writings have been verified, it is speculated that there are still some to be discovered, and multiple versions of Zhu Quan's writings have not yet been found.

In the early 1990s, there were no personal computers, Internet technology, and electronic data resources, let alone the 1970s and 1980s, when Yao Shi was fully engaged in Zhu Quan's research work. At that time, when I went to the ancient books room to check the literature, I had to read the paper mesh card, and I couldn't know the collection of Zhu Quan's research materials without personally running to the library.

Modern scientific research conditions have entered a new era in the new century, but Yao Shi has long retired and is getting older, but her enthusiasm for Zhu Quan's research has become higher and higher with the rapid changes in research conditions, revealing her heart for Zhu Quan and scholarship.

When "Zhu Quan Research" came out, I had just entered the door wall of Yao Shi. In the winter afternoon of 1993, I helped Yao Shi carry the "Zhu Quan Study" that had just been shipped from the publishing house, which was my first close contact with "Zhu Quan". At this time, I knew very little about Zhu Quanshang, but the book led me into the halls of scholarship.

Zhu Quan Studies

Since then, my academic pace has always been accompanied by the notes of Yao Shi Zhu Quan's research, which made me realize that governing learning is a haunting thing. In the second half of 1994, Yao Shi retired, but did not give up academics, not only continued her Zhu Quan research, but also integrated academic research into life, making life academic.

When she was 81 years old, I invited her to Nanjing Normal University to give an academic report to my doctoral and master's students, and she asked me to take her to the ruins of the Ming Palace. It was her wish for decades, and although I told her that it was just a ruined monument that no one cared about, she insisted on going to the field to feel the place where Zhu Quan had lived as a teenager.

Master Yao regards scholarship as life, which is even more prominent after his partner Teacher Zhang returns from the west in the crane. "The painstaking efforts turned into white butterflies, and the nine originals accompanied her for a long time" (Yao Shi's "Anniversary Death Day Weeping Master Burning the Manuscript of Zhu Quan of Ning" as a Sacrifice"), she used Zhu Quan's research as a life support for her lonely behavior.

For a long time, Master Yao gave me the impression that she was in the Study of Si Di Xuan, with reading glasses, and flipping through the literature. That was when I used to go to her house more than twenty years ago to ask questions, and it has always been frozen in my memory. The reason for this freeze frame is only because of Yao Shi's decades of dedication to Zhu Quan's research.

Zhu Quan, King of Ning

With a firm goal and a deep immersion in the state of research, Yao Shi's Zhu Quan research has made remarkable achievements. The four published works show that Yao Shi's research scope involves many fields such as Zhu Quan's research, such as history, genealogy, theory, selection, and academic history.

Among the four works, "Zhu Quan's Works On Shu Zhen" and "Brief List of Zhu Quan's Works", Nai Zhi Ye; "Zhu Quan's Commentary", "The Life of Zhu Quan the King of Ning", Nai Shi Ye; "Ning Wang Zhu Quan's Annals", Nai Bi Ye; "Review of the Taihe Zhengyin Spectrum", "Taihe Zhengyin Spectrum Commentary", Nai Zhi Ye; "Zhu Quan's Selected Rust works", Nai Xuan Ye; "Zhu Quan's Life Biography Data Collection", is an academic history also. The study of these aspects continued to advance in the four works and gradually became complete.

The forthcoming fifth book, "Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents on Zhu Quan's Research", belongs to the research results of academic historiography and has a collection of achievements. From the perspective of research methods, Yao Shi's Zhu Quan research involves a variety of methods such as field investigation, literature examination, literature collation, literature review, theoretical discussion, and data compilation, which comprehensively presents the level reached by his academic research.

The "top pillar" that supports this high-level research result and the "paving stone" that leads the academic community to further study Zhu Quan are the literature involved in Zhu Quan's research, and the value of the Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents of Zhu Quan's Research is particularly prominent.

"Taihe Zhengyin Notation Commentary"

From the perspective of academic methodology, the Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents on Zhu Quan's Research is the most basic and important of Yao Shi's five Zhu Quan research works. There is no end to scholarship in any field, and it is always walking in the journey of continuous advancement, and a person who is interested in scholarship will never stop on the road of learning. For such a scholar, there is nothing more valuable than the information available for his research. Master Yao climbed luo, scratched and polished, and spent decades collecting literature, which was extremely valuable, and the spiritual realm that he was willing to take out and share with the academic community was even more precious!

The philological achievements of the Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents of Zhu Quan's Research are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

First, the compiled literature is not only comprehensive, but also classified according to academic logic, reflecting a strong academic rationality.

The book is divided into five volumes: the first volume of "Historical Materials of Biographical Documents", the second volume of "Selected Works of Zhu Quan", the third volume of "Zhu Quan's Works", the fourth volume of "Historical Materials of Zhu Quan's Descendants", and the fifth volume of "Zhu Quan's Annals", with relevant pictures and contemporary Zhu Quan research literature, and the literature collected is very comprehensive.

Whether zhu quan and his writing achievements are studied as a whole, or classified studies and case studies are carried out on Zhu Quan and his writings, it is always inseparable from the excavation and utilization of documents in the senses of historical materials, genealogy, mucuna, editions, proofreading, and academic historiography. This is an inherent rule of scholarship, and it is not subject to the preferences of scholars. The Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents on Zhu Quan's Research is a good example, and the contents of each volume can reflect its academic value in the above-mentioned disciplines.

Tomb of Zhu Quan

Second, the latest literature and historical materials collected by Yao Shi are compiled, reflecting the innovation of documentary information.

Master Yao treated scholarship reverently, took literature seriously, paid attention to the excavation of new literature, often grumped about some conclusions because of the lack of documentary proof, and was excited because of the fact that the new literature solved the outstanding doubts.

Before the publication of the "Taihe Zhengyin Score Commentary", she sent me the manuscript to read first, and in the call she excitedly solicited my opinion, and I planned to attach the article "TuYang" to the manuscript, and I was also very excited and appreciative, because I knew that if "Tu Yang" was clearly examined, I could re-understand the historical facts of the historical figures involved in the "Taihe Zhengyin Spectrum", and then determine that many of the good singers of the "Taihe Zhengyin Spectrum" who were from "Tuyang People" should be known to Zhu Quan during the Daning period, which is crucial for the study of the relationship between Zhu Quan and Beiqu.

What helped Yao Shi to solve this problem thoroughly was the poems of the early Ming Dynasty poet Tang Zhichun's "Tang Yushi Poems", "Daning Miscellaneous Poems", "Tu Yang Eight Songs", and "Bei Daning" collected by the "Four Libraries of the Whole Book" that she had recently noticed. "Tu Yang", as a place name, is not found in any historical records, although the word "Tu Yang" has been used in the literati Beiji, but it is either unreliable or has nothing to do with Zhu Quan.

Yao Shi once speculated that "Tu Yang" may refer to the south of the "Tu Shan (Dang Tu Shan)" that the Jing Army must pass through when it goes south, when it is in Anhui and Jiangsu, or it refers to Nanjing. "Since then, it has been difficult to let go of its feelings because of its insufficient evidence" ("Tu Yang") ("Tu Yang") After several years of hard work, Yao Shi finally found this "Tu Yang" in the "Tang Yushi Poems", which originally referred to Daning, the original fief of Zhu Quan, the King of Ning.

The King and the Scholar: The Life of Zhu Quan, King of Ning

The discovery of the above-mentioned poems in the "Tang Yushi Poems" has been a great achievement. There are many similar documents that are not mentioned by predecessors in the "Compilation of Historical Materials on Zhu Quan's Research", especially Yao Shi's newly discovered new editions of Zhu Quan's writings, which are not listed here.

Third, the compiled literature has been deepened to facilitate the understanding and use of researchers.

Among them, the handling of the known biographical materials of Zhu Quan in the "Historical Materials of Life Documents" is not indiscriminately stacked together, nor is it simply arranged according to the time when the documents appeared, but according to the time involved in the content of the documents, they are classified into five parts, such as the Quanchuan, Nanjing Palace, Daning Period, Jingnan Period and Nanchang Period. This makes it easier for researchers to accurately grasp these historical materials.

Other parts also have corresponding treatment, such as the "Selected Works of Zhu Quan" divides the selected Works of Zhu Quan into different genres such as prologues, poems, scattered songs, miscellaneous dramas, etc.; "Zhu Quan's Works and Narratives" not only conducts a detailed examination of a large number of works to determine their content, existence and stylistic characteristics, but also carefully examines the editions, interrelationships and collections of the surviving documents, which is a very time-consuming and laborious work, but also greatly facilitates the search for these documents by subsequent researchers; "Historical Materials of Zhu Quan's Descendants" It is divided into two parts: the personal life history of the descendants and the personal writings of the descendants.

The Magic Secret Of the Immortals

In the annals part, the biggest difference between the "Zhu Quan Almanac" in the "Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents of Zhu Quan's Research" and the "Annals of Zhu Quan of Ning" in "The King and the Scholar - The Life of Zhu Quan the King of Ning" is that the latter adds the basis for determining the historical chronology and a large number of background dating materials.

For example, Zhu Quan was born in the article "Hongwu Eleventh Year (Peng Wu, 1378) One Year Old", the former recorded "May NongShen Shuo (May 27, 1378), Zhu Quan was born in the Nanjing Palace. Mother Yang Concubine. It was the year, Zhu Yuanzhang was fifty-one years old. Crown Prince Zhu Biao is twenty-four years old." It is a relatively brief linear record, and does not explain the basis for determining Zhu Quan's birthday.

The latter article adds to Zhu Quan's "Emperor to Dao Taiqing Jade Book: Chao Xiu Ji Chen Zhang" as "The first day of the first month of May ... The text of "The Descent of the True King of the Southern Pole Chong Void Dao" also adds information such as the age of Zhu Quan's brothers, the time of his birth and acceptance of canonization, from the crown prince to the sixteenth son of the emperor, as well as the situation of the opera composers Jia Zhongming, Luo Guanzhong, Yang Ne, Tang Shi, Wang Ziyi, Liu Dongsheng, Yang Wenkui, Huang Yuanji and others at that time. A three-dimensional chronology will help to study the Master in an all-round way from the perspective of knowing people and discussing the world.

Fourth, the number of Zhu Quan's works and literature compiled has reached an unprecedented scale, which will promote the study of Zhu Quan's multidisciplinary academic contributions in the academic community.

Stone hua table in front of Zhu Quan's tomb

The most diligent person yao shi used in Zhu Quan's research was a compilation of Zhu Quan's writings. This has never stopped in the entire process of her research on Zhu Quan, and with the deepening of her research, the materials of Zhu Quan's writings she has examined have become more and more abundant, and more and more newly discovered books have been found.

The earliest published "Zhu Quan Studies" series of Zhu Quan's works totaled 62 kinds, divided into 14 categories, and 22 kinds existed. "Ning Wang Zhu Quan" has a total of 69 species, divided into 16 categories, and 25 species are stored. After that, Yao Shi examined Zhu Quan's writings more, and the Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents of Zhu Quan's Research was compiled into 113 kinds, divided into 12 categories, 33 kinds of existing and 1 kind of remnants. This is the largest number of Zhu Quan's writings known to the academic community so far, and the total number has increased by nearly twice as much as the original results of Zhu Quan's Research, and the number of surviving works has also increased by half.

The excavation of Zhu Quan's writings on such a large scale promoted the study of related disciplines such as musicology, musicology, medicine, agriculture, Taoism, and versioning.

Judging from the contemporary Zhu Quan research results attached to the Compilation of Historical Documents on Zhu Quan's Research, the main achievements of contemporary Zhu Quan's research are concentrated after 1993, especially after entering the new millennium, the field of Zhu Quan's research has been quite widely distributed in disciplines.

Zhu Quan's Complete Book of Medicine

The recently published Zhu Quan Medical Encyclopedia (2016 edition of the Ancient Books of Traditional Chinese Medicine Publishing House), which recently published Ye Minghua and Jiang Lisheng, established Zhu Quan's position in the history of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the first time in the form of literature, which is an example. The subdisciplinary research of Zhu Quan, with the publication of the "Compilation of Historical Materials and Documents of Zhu Quan's Research", will become one of the hot topics in the academic circles in the future.

Zhu Quan's special historical identity and his multidisciplinary achievements determine that Zhu Quan's research will continue with the development of the academic horizons, the emphasis on the ecological research of research objects, and the increasing favor of cross-border research by contemporary scholars. "Isn't it Mr. Zhu Quan who is famous in the world, how many people in the world know Zhu Quan?" (Mr. Liu Shinan's "Gift to Mr. Yao Pinwen two poems to songhua's blessing") Engaged in the study of Zhu Quan and related issues, the "Compilation of Historical Documents on Zhu Quan's Research" will be asked for?
