Ramsdale: Didn't expect the debut to come so soon that we need to win a strong team

Recently, Ramsdale gave a full interview to Arsenal's official website and talked about his Arsenal career.

Q: When your team was relegated last season, can you imagine that by christmas you had established yourself in Arsenal and received so much praise for your goal-scoring level?

Not really. I always knew it was going to come at some point – I did believe it deep down, but obviously, my start in the squad would definitely help us. You can see the confidence and enthusiasm I have in the game, everyone likes to go to the game with confidence.

Q: When you signed for Arsenal, there were a few people who were skeptical about you, but you've responded to the critics, haven't you?

Obviously, someone said something but I didn't listen because they weren't the ones who paid me, they weren't the ones who wanted me to play for Arsenal, and they weren't the ones who were going to pick me to play for Arsenal. I'm more concerned about what the boss wants from me, what he wants from me, what my teammates want from me. So I've answered the critic's question now, but I hope to get judged in the next two, three or four years, not just a few games.

Q: Do you say that since you came to North London, you have exceeded people's expectations?

I don't think people who really know me say I've exceeded expectations because they believe I can do more and go further, but maybe those who don't know me are a little shocked by my performance. But the people I've trained with before, from the messages I've received and our conversations, have told me I can do better.

Q: What is your impression of Arteta's coaching and how confident are you in this young Arsenal team you are with?

I'm really looking forward to seeing how we perform. Overall, we are the youngest team in this league, so we have been less stable in some games, which may not be surprising, as players we have to get out of this situation. We must strive to do the right thing and continue to be stable.

Q: Do you think we still need a big win against a strong team to really help us keep going?
