Reasons for site selection

First, in the 2020s, various warlords dominated one side, and the Yunnan-Guizhou warlords occupied Guangzhou. At that time, Sun Yat-sen chose to run a military academy on an isolated island far from the city, in order to avoid the control and interference of warlords;

Second, the island has a quiet environment, surrounded by water on all sides, with many forts, and the Yuzhu Fort opposite the river, the side sand road fort forming a three-legged standing momentum, guarding and controlling the river surface, easy to defend and difficult to attack, easy to learn and practice martial arts;

Third, Sun Yat-sen was very familiar with Cheung Chau Island, he had visited the island many times, and knew that the school building of the Qing Army Primary School on the island was still there, and with a little repair, it could be used, and it could also save a lot of manpower and funds.
