The two attacked police officers were Marlene Rittermani, 49, and her partner, Tyler Bailey, 27, who died after being shot and the latter with serious head injuries. They were both from the Bradley Police Department in Kanka County, and the two were responding to a hotel call to the police, saying there were dogs barking in an unattended vehicle in the hotel's parking lot.

According to the Kankaki County Sheriff's Office, two police officers were shot during an argument with others at the scene of the police station. After finding the vehicle in the parking lot, they immediately went to a room in the hotel that may be the owner of the vehicle. While talking to people in the room, some attacked the policemen, shooting at them. Police said the incident occurred just after 9:40 p.m. on the 29th. The two policemen were reportedly taken to a nearby hospital after the attack.

Police have yet to arrest the suspect accused of being the gunman, but a $25,000 bounty was offered information about a 25-year-old man named Darius Sullivan, who the sheriff's office said should be considered armed and dangerous not to confront him.

According to Illinois State Police, they have issued arrest warrants for Sullivan and Sandria Harris, 26.

According to the Kanka County Coroner's Office, Rittermani's funeral will take place Thursday.
